Welcome to the beautful month of June. The two zodiac signs for the month are: Gemini and Cancer. The birthstones for the month of June are: moonstone, the pearl and the alexandrite. The flowers for the month of June are: the rose and the honeysuckle. A pink rose means “perfect happiness,” a red rose means “I love you” and a white rose means “innocence and purity.” June is the first month of the Summer season and is also noted as being the luckiest month to get married. More people get married in the month of June than any other month out of the year. On June 14, 1777, the flag of the United States was adopted by the Continental Congress. Fathers’ Day falls on Sunday, June 20th. According to many historians, the very first Father’s Day was celebrated in Washington state on June 19, 1910. Sonora Smart Dodd was the woman who came up with the importance of celebrating Father’s Day. She said she thought father’s should be recognized, just like mother’s, after listening to a sermon at church in 1909. Bon Voyage Dexter! Long time Woodland Palms resident Dexter relocated to his former home in Washington. We were sad to see him go but thrilled his health had improved enough that he could return to an independent life again.
