1. INTRODUCTION - WELCOME

Dear competitors, dear guests,

The Acropolis Rally Organizing Team has the pleasure to welcome you all in our 59th edition. As always, we are working hard to take astep forward in our event and the World Rally Championship itself!

Without doubt, it is a difficult year worldwide, but nevertheless an exciting and intense World Rally Championship. Exciting with a newManufacturer entering, another making its debut and top drivers changing teams. Intense, with new challenges for Teams, Promoters, Or-ganisers and the FIA, working together and closer than ever before to bring new quality, excitement and attraction to the world of rallying.

The beautiful coastal town of Loutraki will host for the 3rd consecutive year the Acropolis Rally. The “Club Hotel Casino Loutraki” willonce again act as the ideal HQ and Media Centre. The Service Park will be based once more in the “Military School of Engineering”, prom-ising to give rally fans, more than ever, what they would expect in a Rally Village, when at the same time, give our sponsors and everyoneinvolved, the opportunity to be promoted in the best way, to large number of visitors throughout the event.

The Ceremonial start of the event is on Thursday 24 May from the centre of Athens, in front of the “Zappion”, where the first car will startat 17:00. Action will kick off before the day ends with a 25 km special stage.

On Friday, the “rally culture” lovers will have the opportunity to visit some of the most classic stages in Greece. Rally fans will enjoy theessence of the event in a well-known area, with stages like “Bauxites” and “Drossohori” and the Remote Service Zone in Itea. It is thelongest day of the event, setting a challenge for Competitors, Teams and Organisers, at the same time being yet a step towards longerevents, visiting more parts of the country than the previous years. But who can deny that this is the “unique“ colour of the Acropolis Ral-ly, hard and demanding as usual.

Saturday is again a long day but closer to the rally base, with some beautiful stages in the Peloponnese region and the introduction of anew and very interesting stage of 21 km, “Ziria”.

Sunday will be run in the same stages as last year, very close to Loutraki, giving the opportunity to rally fans to see action in the ServicePark and celebrate with the winners in the finish ceremony.

We are always at your disposal to hear comments and suggestions and we will continue to run a competitor friendly event, as we alwaysdo.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Competitors, Manufacturers, Teams, Media Representatives, FIA Officials, Rally Volun-teers, Spectators and every single person that will join us in this magnificent sporting celebration.

Welcome to Greece, welcome to Acropolis Rally 2012!

The Organising Team

DSCP Tracking Unit

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The DSCP Tracking Unit is a system to improve the safety of com-petitors taking part in the WRC events.

The aim of this system is to allow the Clerk of the Course and EventSafety Officers to track the location of all competitors in the rally, aswell as various other vehicles such as ambulances, FIA observer cars,FIA helicopters and other emergency vehicles.

The DSCP Tracking unit requires equipment to be installed in allcompetitors’ cars which must be fitted and connected before arrivalat scrutineering.

It is VERY important that the kit is easy to reach and remove. If the-re are any problems with any part of the tracking kit, they have to bedealt with during the 15 minute service. You will have many other th-ings to work on during that time so it is very important for you andus that the kit is accessible and that items are easy to replace or re-move.

The DSCP Tracking unit must be used together with the DSCP Trac-ker Base. This allows the quick fitting and removal of the unit.

OΔHΓIEΣ TOΠOΘETHΣHΣ
