Fractions

When finding a quarter of a number we share it equally

by four (just like when you was dividing).

We find a quarter two ways

First count how many objects there are altogether. Then you

need to know, ¼ means 1 out of 4. So that means we can group

the objects into 4s. Then count how many groups there are.

Please do not be scared of the giant. He is just very unhappy. I

He is unhappy now he is older because he has no teeth; this

makes it very hard for him to eat. He is also very unhappy

Fractions.

When finding a quarter, sometimes it is not possible to share

between 4.

If you cannot move the objects then I have a trick.

¼ means 1 out of 4. So that means we can group the objects

into 4s.

Example: There are 8 cats altogether. What is a quarter of 8?

Group the objects into groups of 4.

There are 2 groups of 4.

So that means ¼ of 8 = 2
