• From looking at the finished DVD Cover, as a team we feel that we have done an excellent job as it successfully follows the codes and conventions of a music DVD cover. As a part of research, we analysed some amateur attempts of DVD covers and realised they are crammed and complex as there is too much to look at. To avoid this, we aimed to capture the target audience with a simple but effective result, and from looking at our finished music DVD cover we believe we have accomplished this. The simplicity of the DVD cover comes from both the house colours & font. The font used is simple but elegant and is finished with both a black and vibrant orange. The house colours being a mix of black, grey and an energetic orange work well within the product as they seemed to complement each other. From our research, we also looked at mainstream DVD covers within the same genre and noticed that a majority used close up pictures of the artists face. As you can see from our plans, we first decided to use mid/long shots but after trying a few samples, these did not work so we opted to imitate the most recent mainstream examples by using a close up of the artist. We had also wasted many hours on an idea of which was that artist being represented as an angel. This idea came across to us after we analysed the lyrics to Dappy – No regrets. Many people associate angels with faith, courage and perseverance and as a team we noticed that the narratives in the music video included these three thing as it was about a boxer winning a fight and the artist growing up to where he is now.

This idea did seemed very good and the feedback we received of the samples were very positive, but after discussing the idea with the team, we realised that people might not understand the relation between the two so we decided to call off this idea. So with even more research, we came up with our final idea and after using Adobe Photoshop, we built upon these ideas and created our final product. After creating our product, we asked our target audience if they liked our DVD cover and a majority of the feedback was positive. We did not receive much constructive criticism but a few people did say they would like to see some quotes from the lyrics of the song on the background. As a team, we feel that our DVD cover is successful in what we wanted to achieve and in targeting the correct audience. From creating this product we have also developed on our skills such as using Adobe Photoshop more efficiently. We first learnt how to use Adobe Photoshop in media GCSE and then to follow onto As Media but since using them for A2, I feel that we have learnt to use this programme with an even greater level of skill. I would also like to include that even without any budget, as a team we feel that our DVD cover looks simple, effective but also has the same level of professionalism that other real media products have and i am proud to say that with the amount of time and effort we have put into produce this, we have created a successful DVD cover
