Example: As a noun: Our well ran dry. As a verb: After a scolding, tears well in the child’s eyes. EXERCISE A: Identifying Nouns, Verbs, and Adjectives. Identify each underlined word as a noun, verb, or adjective. EXAMPLE: Beethoven composed nine symphonies. (adjective) 1. This restaurant serves delicious green salad. 2. Put some greens in the vase with the flowers. 3. Spring sunshine wilt quickly green the lawns. 4. The grammar test will be easy. 5. The lawyers say the trial will be a test case. 6. This machine tests blood for anemia. 7. A mattress should give good back support. 8. They painted a mural on the back of the barn. 9. We promised we would look for the lost child. 10. A wistful look appeared on the lonely boy's face. EXERCISE B: Identifying Parts of Speech. Identify the part of speech of each underlined word.
