Westside Urban Market

First Floor PioneersThe first White Provision homeowners

are preparing to move in mid-August, and they'll soon be able to zip down-stairs for breakfast at West Egg Café. The beloved westside hotspot is relocat-ing to its new digs on the first floor of the residential building in October.

Joining West Egg on the first floor is custom furniture shop Ava, known for its heirloom quality wood furniture, time-

less metalwork and hand-tied uphol-stery, which is all American made and designed by owner Matt Carfaro. Bryan Alan Kirkland will also be relocating his interior design showroom, Maison Atlanta, to the first floor residential building.

WSPD is pleased to welcome these pioneers to its family of retailers and restaurants.

Ginna Gilbert of G. Gilbert Boutique, 9 years ago understood the vision

behind Westside Urban Market. She was the first to bring ladies clothing to an area that had previously been known as an area for decorators.

Ginna is a graduate of The Fashion Insti-tute of Technology in NYC, and likes to describe the G. Gilbert look as: unique, sophisticated and "on trend" but not "trendy." She searches the market for unusual designers like Charles Chang-Lima and Pier Antonio Gaspari, who create timeless pieces for day and eve-ning by combining novelty fabrications with their unbelievable design talent. Located between B. Braithwaite and Sprout, G. Gilbert also has fun things for Mothers to be! Ginna tries very hard to

New WSPD home interior store Room & Board is not just for grown-ups. Their kid's

furniture is handcrafted from durable materials that will last from toddler to teen and beyond. In the lower level of their three-story, 34,000 sf store, find loads of kids bedding, lighting, accessories, kid-sized furniture, and low profile

mattresses specially designed for kids’ bunks and beds – all with the same design philoso-phy and craftsmanship that inspires the rest of Room & Board's quality furnishings.

Pictured below is the Pogo Trundle bed, a simple smart design created by a family-owned

woodworking company in upstate New York. The solid, hard maple frame is versatile, durable and represents a great value. Pair it with a functional, modern Moda dresser to give your kid's room a clean, cool look that will last for years.

find special items that are not saturated all over town.

For Fall, Ginna recommends updating your old leather jacket. That new fabulous "everything jacket" can jazz up last year's dress or make your favorite old jeans look new! Although it's hard to beat that "great white shirt," the new white shirt is a fun plaid. Pair that with Bettye Muller's red cowboy bootie and jeans for an easy current look. Scarves, layers of chains, chunky beads and big ear-rings continue to create excitement in the details. Ginna believes that clients should be pampered, and enjoy a glass of wine or water, while

they browse and soak in the experience. Join G. Gilbert for the "Firsts of Fall" Trunk Show August 28th and 29th. Featured vendors are: Agave Nectar denim, Lilla-P tees and Oracini belts. Register for a pair of jeans and a belt to be given away. Enjoy 10% off with a purchase of 3 or more t-shirts!

Taco LoveAtlanta local Lauren Mross discusses her love affair with Taqueria del Sol

nvironmentSustainable luxury is the hallmark of this unique furniture maker

The self-described "environmen-tal stewards" at WSPD's newest

home interior boutique, environment, create unique furniture collections from reclaimed, recycled, and sus-tainably harvested wood. Recognized by Time Magazine for its minimalist lines and eco edge, environment brings truly remarkable furniture designs to the Atlanta market. Envi-ronment's commitment to sustain-ability begins with the raw materials it uses, and continues through the entire manufacturing process and into awareness-raising in its retail showrooms. More information at www. environmentfurniture.com.

Lauren Mross, Atlanta resident and co-founder of Sanctuary

Real Estate, is a self-described "fish taco connesseiur." And in her opinion Taqueria del Sol has the best fish tacos in Atlanta, hands down. "They're perfect," says Mross, "The fish is crispy but not heavy or greasy, and the jalapeno mayon-naise has the perfect kick."

As a flexitarian (ie: a vegetarian who occasionally indulges in animal pro-teins,) Mross generally sticks pretty close to her favorite, the fish tacos. However, on a recent visit, she

branched out and gave the chef's special, a crab-cake sandwich, a try. "Two thumbs way up," she said, "As a Baltimore native, I'm pretty picky about my crab cakes, but this is delicious!" Mross also recommends the salsa trio and queso dip.

"I always bring friends from out of town to Taqueria," Mross says. "They're consistent and consis-tently delicious. I even celebrated a recent birthday with a big dinner at Taqueria del Sol; that's how much I love the place."www.taqueriadelsol.com.

It's so great to see the fruits of everyone's hard work realized as the Residences near completion.

The Residences are substantially complete and nearly ready for the

first occupants to take possession in August. We are also beginning buildout for retail/restaurant spaces on the first floor of the residential building, and for Ormsby's, a great local pub, and Spa Sentio - who will

be moving into the White Provision Building very soon!

As always, visit www.whiteprovision.com for the latest, greatest informa-tion on all things White Provision!

Faces of WSPDMeet WSPD’s biggest fan, Kirk Whitfield

Spring FlingGood times at the WSPD Spring Festival

We had a blast at our first "Spring Into Green" festival

event. Kids were the highlight of the day; they enjoyed all sorts of fun activities, from Maypole dancing by Star Provisions, to papermaking at Seed Factory with Katy DeMent (pictured top right.)

Everyone loved the nibbles from various WSPD restaurants and kicked up their heels to tunes from local bluegrass favorites Cypress Hill (pictured bottom right, reclining on outdoor furniture from Room & Board.) Thanks to all our volunteers! Word on the street is that our shops, restaurants and clients all enjoyed a great day of sales, shopping and fun at Westside Provisions District.

You may have run across WSPD's biggest fan, beauti-ful blonde Kirk Whitfield enjoying $1 oysters at JCT

Bar or shopping her way through the district. Here are some of her favorite WSPD Moments:

Favorite WSPD purchase? • A knit sock monkey doll from Sprout made by local company blabla.Favorite WSPD Food?• Hands down, it's the Shrimp Po Boy from Star Provisions.Favorite Time at WSPD?• An engagement party at Quinones with all of my friends.Dream WSPD shopping spree? • I would start at Room & Board for a new couch, pick up some clothes for my boyfriend at Sid Mashburn, grab lunch at Taqueria, shop for wine glasses and dishes at Star Provisions, then move on to JCT for $1 oys-ters and champagne. I guess I would pretty much drink and eat my way through westside!

Resistance is futile; social networking sites like Face-

book and Twitter are here to stay, and we at Westside Provi-sions District have embraced them whole-heartedly. They are a fantastic way to get the word out to our clients, and to reward loyal visitors with coupons and specials.

Search "Westside Provisions District" to become a Face-book Fan. We also have White Provision and Westside Urban Market groups. Many of our tenants, such as Room & Board and Owen Lawrence, also have Facebook pages. To follow us on Twitter, look for @WSPD and @WSurbanmarket!
