wtbu e-board positions 2013 General Manager: The General Manager is responsible for all phases of station operations. He/she shall schedule and preside over all Staff and Executive Board meetings, sign all papers concerning station policy, and appoint committees with approval of the Board. He/she shall be responsible for the handling of all financial matters concerning the station and making out the yearly budget with the aid and approval of the Executive Board. He/she must be informed in advance of all expenditures requested by staff members and afterwards of the exact final amount. The General Manager has the right to make any decisions necessary to the functioning of the station and enforce all by-laws. The General Manager acts a tie-breaker on all Executive Board votes. Additionally the General Manager is responsible for writing the station history during their term and scheduling and overseeing Executive Board elections. Station Administrator: The Station Administrator shall be responsible for all clerical work regarding the station including, but not limited to: attendance at staff meetings, checking email and phone messages, maintaining station access and updated security agreements, keeping a current list of all staff members, and keeping track of all strikes. He/she shall be present at all board functions in order to record the minutes. In addition, he/she is responsible for all communications between departments and should be copied on every Executive Board email communication. The Station Administrator is fully aware of all on-going projects and is responsible for sending a weekly internal newsletter to the staff to keep them informed. Finally, he/she is responsible for inputting all staffers and maintaining an updated programming schedule on the intranet in conjunction with the Programming Director. Programming Director: The Programming Director shall be responsible for all programming in conjunction with the News Director, Sports Director and Music Director(s). He/she shall be responsible for the dissemination of all show applications and assignment of time slots. The Programming Director shall maintain an updating programming schedule, which should be updated and posted in the studio as often as needed. He/she is responsible for notifying the staff of any changes in the programming schedule and establishing beginning and ending programming dates in conjunction with the General Manager. Lastly, he/she is responsible for overseeing the Show Review Committee Coordinator and his/her staff, and for coordinating with the Intern Director at the beginning of each semester to assign interns to appropriate shows. Intern Coordinator: The Intern Director recruits new interns for the station at the beginning of each semester, assigns interns to time slots and manages the training of all interns. He/she is also in charge of administering and grading the intern quiz at the close

of each semester. He/she posts cram jam sign-ups during study periods andassists in the transition between internship and show application at the end ofeach semester. He/she works with the Intern Event Coordinator in planning andhosting monthly intern events and with the Intern-DJ Relations Coordinator tomake sure DJs are properly teaching their interns.

Underwriting Director:

The Underwriting Director shall be responsible for keeping underwriting ratescurrent, procuring underwriting for programs on WTBU, and updating andchecking the ad log. He/she is responsible for maintaining a file of allunderwriting contracts, promptly billing all clients, and recording and reporting tothe General Manager all incoming funds. The Underwriting Director shall alsowork in conjunction with the Production Director to get all spots complete and inrotation in a timely manner. The Underwriting Director is also responsible formaintaining alumni relations and coordinating donations to the station.

Technical Directors:

The Technical Directors shall be responsible for all matters relating to thetechnical maintenance of the station (e.g. repairing, replacing, and maintaining allequipment owned by WTBU). They are responsible for keeping an inventory of allthe station!s assets and employing a check-in and check-out system for borrowedequipment. In addition, the Technical Directors shall be responsible for alltechnical training within the station. Any job that is beyond the capabilities of theTechnical Director should be brought up at an Executive Board meeting andaddressed to an Engineering Advisor in the College of Communication.Additionally the Tech Directors shall be responsible for all recorded material asassigned to them by department heads. They must approve all taped matterproduced by the staff prior to air-time. The Tech Directors shall maintain all filesand production equipment. They are responsible for making sweepers, showheaders and underwriting spots. They also help to maintain the up-keep of theproduction studio and production file folders. 

Public Relations Director:

The PR Director shall be responsible for establishing and maintaining a positiveflow of communication between the radio station and the BU community. He/sheshall be responsible for sending out press releases to the media, maintaining anypermanent signage or bulletin boards, and overseeing the creation of the monthlyexternal newsletter. Additionally, he/she will oversee the Street Team via theStreet Team Coordinator, manage the button maker, and make copies of anddistribute flyers.

Promotions Director:The Promotions Director shall direct and keep track of all giveaways and thepurchase of any merchandise used to advertise the station. The PromotionsDirector is in charge of finding unique and creative ways to promote WTBU bothon and off campus. Additionally, the Promotions Director is responsible foracquiring prizes to give away to staff and listeners and distributing said prizes tothe winners of contests. Additionally, the Promotions Director is responsible forcoordinating live events for the station. This includes concerts which needvenues, bands and equipment. In doing so, the Promotions Director will put the

Technical Director in direct communication with the performers to ensure properspecifications for the event. He/she is also responsible for coordinating remotebroadcasts around campus; this includes scheduling DJs. Finally, the PromotionsDirector is responsible for planning, coordinating and running all specialstation events, including the WTBU Awards at the end of each semester.

Music Director:The Music Director shall have the responsibility of procuring albums, as well asmaintenance of the album libraries in a consistent, efficient and functionalmanner. The Music Director shall be responsible for maintaining rotation andsending in charts once a week. He/she shall be responsible for all relatedcorrespondence with record companies and music magazines and working withthe producers of BU in the Morning in music related manners. The Music Directoris also responsible for maintaining a concert calendar to be posted in the station.

New Media Director:

The New Media Director shall be responsible for designing and maintaining theofficial WTBU website, keeping all artwork on file, and ensuring the WTBU brand

is maintained on all media. He/she is in charge of updating all social mediaoutlets, i.e. the WTBU blog, Facebook and Twitter, including making and invitingguests to WTBU events via Facebook. Additionally, the New Media Director isresponsible for maintaining the video portion of the WTBU television channel(acquiring slides from shows each semester). Finally, the New Media Director isresponsible for updating all email functions in the intranet.

Sports Director:

The Sports Director shall be responsible for all scheduled sports broadcasts, inconjunction with the Programming Director. He/she shall be responsible for theorganization of sports broadcasts, including correspondence with college SportsInformation Directors and provisions for transportation and communicationservices. The Sports Director shall also be responsible for assigning publicservice announcement announcers with Athletics. Additionally, he/she isresponsible for communicating preemptions to the staff and maintaining anupdated sports schedule in the station. Finally, he/she is in charge of updatingthe sports blog on a regular basis.

News Director:

The News Director shall be responsible for all scheduled news broadcasts inconjunction with the Programming Director. He/she is also responsible fordirecting the weekly news show and providing fresh and provocative content. TheNews Director is also in charge of building and training a staff of news updaters

and anchors. He/she also coordinates with the BUITM Coordinator to share orexchange interview opportunities and news segments. Lastly, the News Directoracts as a liaison between the Executive Board and the Radio PerformanceCoordinator as needed.
