An Argentine hero

Dr. Ren Favaloro was born in La Plata, Buenos Aires,

in 1923. His father was a carpenter and his mother was adressmaker. They were very poor, but very happy. He didhis secondary school at Colegio Nacional de La Plata.Later, he studied Medicine at the National University ofLa Plata. When he graduated, he went to Jacinto Aruz, asmall town in La Pampa. When he was working there, heinvited his brother to work with him.While the Favaloro brothers were living in JacintoAruz, they equipped the town with an operatingtheatre and X-rays. They taught First Aid to thegeneral public, teachers and nurses.

Dr. Ren Favaloro went to Cleveland Clinic in theUSA. While he was working in the cardiovascularsurgery department, he invented the bypass andbecame very famous.He came back to Argentina in 1971 and foundedthe Fundacin Favaloro in 1975. A lot of medicaldoctors train there. They cure rich and poor peoplefrom all over the world.Dr. Favaloro died in 2000, while he was trying tokeep his foundation going.
