SCRIPT

Synopsis:

After Heathcliff is adopted by Mr. Earnshaw, Hindley – the son of Mr. Earnshaw

 – feels excluded from his own family as more care is given to Heathcliff. To makematters worse, Heathcliff and Catherine, Hindley’s sister, get along with each other very

well. When Mr. Earnshaw dies, Hindley married a new woman, Francis, and becomes the

sole chief of Wuthering Heights. Slowly, due to Hindley’s coercion, Heathcliff loses his

status and is somewhat despised upon for his appearance even by his former admirer Catherine after their visit to Thrushcross Grange. Catherine accompanies Heathcliff after

he is locked up in the attic by Hindley after climbing on the roof. Shortly thereafter,

Catherine marries Edgar Linton, regardless of her transparent affection towards

Heathcliff, and dies giving birth to their child. Meanwhile, Heathcliff’s relationship withIsabella turns abusive and Isabella, in fear, runs away to Hindley. Heathcliff vows to get

revenge on Hindley and arrives at the place where both are currently residing.

It is late towards twelve, and Nelly Dean is sitting down reading some old books. It is

extremely silent; most of the house’s residents are asleep and Hindley sits across

Isabella, perhaps meditating on some subject. Suddenly, the silence is broken by Heathcliff’s banging on the kitchen latch.

Right center: Heathcliff banging on kitchen door.

Center: Isabella and Hindley sitting across from each other.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Narrator: The doleful silence was broken at length by the sound of the kitchen latch:

Heathcliff had returned from his watch earlier than usual; owing, [I suppose], to the

sudden storm. (pg. 150)

Hindley: If you don’t mind, I will keep him out for a while.

Isabella: Definitely not, keep him out for the whole night if you can! Make sure the door

is completely locked.

Hindley: You and I both have something against that man outside! We should work to

bring him down to his knees. Are you willing to do that? Or are you as soft as your  brother?

Isabella: Violence doesn’t solve our conflicts. It only makes matters worse for us.

Hindley: Treachery and violence are a just return for treachery and violence! (pg.

151)… I’m only asking you to be silent. I know you’ll find as much relief as I do in

watching him die. But if you don’t resort to violence, he will become your death and myruin. So promise me that you will be quiet!

Isabella: I will not remain silent! Do not make things worse, just let him be.

Hindley: No! Once I make a decision, I do not back down from it. My only sister

Catherine is gone… I must finish him now!

Narrator: Isabella reasoned that there was no point in arguing with Hindley. She decided

that the only way to stop any disastrous actions from happening was to warn Heathcliff of

Hindley’s plot.

- Isabella opens the window.-

Isabella: Heathcliff! Its better if you just leave. Hindley has decided to end your life if you even think about stepping in.

Heathcliff: Let me in now!

Isabella: I do not wish to get involved with this. If you choose to enter, just remember

that I did warn you.

- Isabella shuts the window.-

Narrator: With that, Isabella shut the window and walked back to her initial place.

Hindley started to call her malicious names and stating that she still loved Heathcliff.

Isabella went into deep contemplation, realizing that it would be a great blessing for Hindley if Heatchliff put him out of his misery and a blessing for herself if Hindley ended

Heathcliff’s life. At the same time, Heathcliff manages to break the window.

-Window is open.-

Heathcliff: How dare you! Let me in you worthless piece of trash!

Isabella: It is not right for me to commit murder; Hindley stands here with a knife-gun.

Heathcliff: Open the kitchen door!

Isabella: We were left at peace in our beds as long as the summer moon shone, but

the moment a blast of winter returns, you must run for shelter! Heathcliff, if I were

you, I’d go stretch myself over Catherine’s grave and die like a faithful dog. (pg.

152-153) Your life no longer has a purpose. You definitely gave me the impression that

Catherine was your sole happiness.

Heathcliff: If I can get my arm out I can hit him! (pg. 153)

- Hindley walks to the window with his knife-gun, ready to shoot Heathcliff.-

Narrator: Just as Hindley shoots Heathcliff, Heathcliff grabs the weapon, and the knife,

in springing back, closed into its owner’s wrist. Heathcliff pulled it away by mainforce. He then took a stone, struck down the division between two windows, and

sprung in. His adversary had fallen senseless with excessive pain, and the flow of

blood that gushed from an artery or a large vein. The ruffian kicked and trampled

on him, and dashed his head repeatedly against the flags, holding Isabella with one

hand, meantime to prevent her summoning Joseph. He exerted preter-human self-

denial in abstaining from finishing him completely; but getting out of breath he

finally desisted, and dragged the apparently inanimate body onto the settle. There

he tore off the sleeve of Earnshaw’s coat, and bound up the wound with brutal

roughness; spitting and cursing during the operation as energetically as he had

kicked before. (pg. 153)

Revenge blah blah blah edit this… need a moral/message theme which is an addition to

the kicker on the cover “must appear in the end of your script” I guess it should be

something about revenge since heathcliff kicks the crap out of hindley only to patch uphis wounds and heal him back…
