Symphony Orchestra, and Marvin Hamlisch, a famous Broadway

performer/composer, was conducting during a concert in Morgantown.

He invited me to lead them playing the WVU fight song. Not everyone

can say they conducted the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra!”

advice for new students: “Get involved! It’s the best thing I did. I

joined the Wildlife Society and Fisheries Society right away, and met

amazing friends, got to know my professors better, and have gone on

trips to Miami, Virginia Tech, and Auburn.”

what does it mean to be a Mountaineer?: “It means pride and a

sense of belonging. I grew up in Maryland, but Morgantown is home

now. It’s a decent-sized city, but I can be in the woods in ten minutes.

I love it here.”

• 4 units of English (including grammar, composition, and literature)

• 4 units of college preparatory mathematics (3 units must be

algebra I and II and plane geometry): students interested in majors

that emphasize math and science are encouraged to take math

beyond algebra II (such as pre-calc, calculus, and statistics)

• 3 units of social studies (including US history)

• 3 units of science (all units must be laboratory science):

recommended units include biology, chemistry, physics,

anatomy, and environmental science

• 2 units of the same foreign language (American Sign Language

is acceptable)

• 1 unit of fine arts: recommended units include music, band, art,

theater, dance, drama, and performance

The average student enrolled in the fall 2011 freshman class had

a 3.36 high school grade point average, a composite ACT score

of 23.7, and/or SAT math and critical reading score of 1055.

hoW Do i apply?

1. Apply online at Apply.WVU.edU or download a paper

version at Adm.WVU.edU/r/doWnloAd/42219.

2. There is a $30 application fee for West Virginia residents and

a $60 application fee for nonresidents ($60 for international

students).

3. Include your official high school transcript, ACT or SAT score,

and application fee.

4. Apply by January 1 for the fall semester and by October 1 for

the spring semester for full consideration.

5. All transcripts, test scores, and other required documentation

should be mailed to: WVU Admissions, PO Box 6009,

Morgantown, WV 26506-6009.

WVU has a rolling admissions policy, which means we do not

have a specific deadline by which you must apply. We continue

to admit students until the freshman class is full. To be eligible

for WVU scholarships, you must be admitted by February 1.
