ArchivalImageAnalysisExerciseTheaimofthisclasswillbetoexaminevariousviewpoints.WewanttoexplorehowhowBronxitesexperiencedWorldWarI,otherwiseknownastheGreatWar.Selectoneofthehistoricalimages.Writeashortresponsethatdiscussesthehistoricalrelevance(thebackstory)ofthisimage.
Thinkaboutwhatyoucanprovehistoricallywithyourimageanddiscussthatinyourresponse.Youwillbeusingyourimagetomakeahistoricalargument.Theimagewillbetheevidenceyouusetomakeyourargument.YoushouldconsiderhowthedetailsofyourimagerelatetoboththeBronxandlargerhistoryofWWI.

Who are the narrators in this image? What basic facts did the imageprovidetoyou?
Whatpointsofviewarebeingexpressedinthisimage?Dotheseimagesshowanythingaboutsocialpower,forexampleclass,race,orgender?
Does the image show anything about the campus at that time? This could be architecture, social relationships, cultural events, government operations andcontrol,religion,economics,etc.
Wasthereanythingthattheimagedidnotshowthatseemsimportantintermsofpeopleslivesatthattime?HowhasyourviewofWWIbeenchallenged,enhancedorotherwiseshapedbytheseimages?
