ORBIS is a comprehensive database of companies around the world. It contains information combined fromnearly 100 sources which is filtered into various standard report formats to facilitate global searching and

constantly increasing in terms of depth of data as well as a growing number of countries.

ORBIS has sections of superlative coverage including listed companies worldwide, public and private banksand insurance companies plus private European companies as well as a unique ownership database. Thefollowing features combine to make ORBIS an accurate and coherent global company information resource.

Combined data expertiseBvDEP sources data from specialist informationproviders (IPs) each an expert in its discipline(s) orregion(s), to ensure that ORBIS contains the bestavailable combination of data. In addition to thedescriptive information and financials, ORBIScontains further information such as news, annualreports, ownership and M&A data.

Workable global standardised reports with linksto "as reported" dataORBIS includes standardised reports that havebeen created to best reflect organisation types andglobal accountancy practices. The reports are apractical balance between detail andstandardisation that facilitate global searching andanalysis - without compromise. Three basictemplates are included: industrial companies, banks and insurance companies. These allow forthe various major differences in accounts in theseorganisation types. Users can access various levelsof detail of standardised accounts with up to 10years of history. They can also access more specificreports1 that originate on BvDEP's region ororganisation-specific products (such asBankScope) which often contain "as reported"data.

Viable global searchingThe standardised reports mean that users cansearch across the database using a consistent set ofcriteria. Users can choose from over a hundredsearch items that can be combined to help narrowdown searches very specifically. Industry codeshave been allocated and cross-referenced forintelligent searching by activity. Users can searchon actual financials, growth rates or estimateswhen figures are unavailable. Options are offeredto enable users to determine whether companiesshould be included in searches if they publishincomplete accounts due to filing regulations.

Impressive coverage of private companiesAt the time of going to press ORBIS containedinformation on approximately 45,000 listedcompanies around the world. Over 99% of thecompanies available on ORBIS are private companies.Private company information is more difficult toobtain and the legal obligations to file accounts varywidely from country to country. If full financialinformation is not available, ORBIS offers reports withvarying amounts of financial detail and estimates.

Ownership dataBvDEP’s ownership database is a complete sourceof approximately 20 million owner and subsidiarylinks. BvDEP supplements the ownership dataprovided by the IPs and has a specialist teamworking solely on this resource.

The information is collected from a variety ofadditional sources including: Official registers(including SEC filings and stock exchanges), annualreports, private correspondence and telephoneresearch, company websites and newswires. Itaims to convey the following about a company:

• its independence in relation to its shareholders,• its direct and indirect shareholders with their

percentage of ownership,• its ultimate owner (if any), according to the

user's definition, • its direct and indirect subsidiaries with their

percentage of ownership and status, with even very small links between two entities indicated.

Flexible accessORBIS is available with two access options that canbe combined for added flexibility. Access is pre-determined by password.

1. Unlimited accessUnlimited access to a choice of size-definedmodules.

The modules are:• Top 150,000 companies,

• Top 750,000 companies,

• Top 5 million companies,

• All companies.

2. Pay-per-viewCredits can be used to access reports - thevarious reports use different numbers of creditsdepending on the level of detail they contain.Credits are not used for searching and accountsare easily set up in advance.

These two access modes can be combined for acost-effective, flexible solution that providesunlimited access to data required on a regularbasis, and credits to access informationoccasionally.
