Feed The Beast - FTB

Feed the beast, know as FTB came from a minecraft challenge map which used vast amounts of tech mods, as FTB was a tech mod, you added to the game a ton different blocks and various ways of doing things, this help'ed kept track of the challenges the challenge map gave you whitest giving you awards for completing the tasks.

The map got adapted to allow Online Multiplayer to compete and or work together to complete the challenges, this took off with more people live streaming it on "Twitch.TV" with two very popular players playing the map DireWolf20 and Nearbygamer.

As to play the map you had to Download the map file, mods, and configuration settings, this was a large amount of data to download.a decision was made to create a faster easier way to download the whole thing as a pack instead of a maps thus Feed The Beast Launcher was created this would make it so much easier to download the pack.

The Map went through various iterations, which included the bedrock map which was know for its challenges and the reward structure made of bedrock ( bedrock is a block which cannot be broken under any circumstance used as a base of the world ). However its more commonly knows as the FTB map, That version was updated to a much harder map which took at least 70 hours to complete.

As feed the beast is a minecraft mod it plays the same as minecraft does but with new blocks added to the game, with over 170 mods added to the game each mod has about a ton of different things you need to remember to work through the mod ill name a few;

ThaumCraft - http://ftbwiki.org/Thaumcraft_4"Thaumcraft 4 is a mod which allows you to use the magic around you in the form of "vis" (pronounced "vee" or "veece") to perform different tasks and create fantastic items. Unlike "Thaumcraft 3" there are six types of basic vis which can be stored in your wand, the amount of vis you can carry depends on two different parts of it, the core and the caps. The core can be made of various items, like greatwood, obsidian or silverwood; and the caps can be made of different metals, from iron to thaumium."

"Also, the Thaumonomicon is organized in a different way, separating alchemy from artificing and other types of research."

While most of the machines from Thermal Expansion 2 are still present, the mod introduces its own energy system, Redstone Flux, rather than using Buildcraft MJs like the previous version. Along with this are new Dynamos to generate Redstone Flux, Flux Capacitors to transport it, and Energy Cells to store it."

"Applied Energistics is a mod that focuses on creating a compact, easily accessible, considerably expandable and extendable storage system called a ME Network. The "ME" in the title stands for "Matter<->Energy" - the premise being that items added to the system are converted into energy and stored in a digital energy form before needing to be used again, whereupon they are converted back into matter.In addition to providing a potentially attractive solution to storage, the storage network can later be expanded to include the capability to craft recipes-on-demand. A comprehensive automation system may also be added, with the capability to interface with nearly any machine, no matter what mod it belongs to, with basically no limit to the amount of machines that can be added. In addition, this automation system can be used in conjunction with or in place of other automation mods like BuildCraft Pipes, Factorization's Routers, Thaumcraft 3's Golems and so on, depending on the player's preferences."

"BuildCraft is a mod that uses machines to mine resources, craft items, and sort goods. It also has machines that can automatically build structures based

on blueprints. The mod also includes a transport pipe system for both items and liquids.

The BuildCraft machines are run with by a new type of energy, Minecraft Joules (MJ), and three engines can produce this energy: the Redstone Engine, Stirling Engine, and Combustion Engine. There are also other mods which intertwine with this mod to create hybrid engines, such as the Electrical Engine. This converts EU power from Industrial Craft (IC) into Buildcraft power (MJ). Buildcraft introduces two new liquids, oil and fuel, to provide increased energy output. The Buildcraft Wrench is a new tool to reorient machines and piping systems."

"Factorization is a mod that aims to add machines to process ore and craft materials. More recently, a charge system has been added, which is used to power many of the machines in this mod."

Utility items such as the pocket crafting table and barrels.
