1. Community – tell us about the organisations, activities and events that contribute most to community life in your village today. Approximately how many people volunteer to help run such organisations? How does your village seek to achieve a sense of community? (300 words maximum).

2.Businesses and Services – tell us about the local businesses and services that you have in your village and the ways in which they contribute to community life. Approximately how many residents are employed in the village? (200 words maximum).
3.Environment – tell us about any activities to protect the environment and make your village more sustainable. Is there any interest in renewable energy schemes? (200 words maximum)

4. Change and the Future –Have there been any particular developments or new opportunities in the past year (since April 2014)? How is your community responding to change? What are the major issues – e.g. broadband, transport?? Tell us how you consult local residents about the future and about any community projects currently in progress (300 words maximum).
5. A Special Place – if you met someone considering moving into your village, what would you say makes it special and why is it such a good place to live in? (300 words maximum).

The competition is judged by dedicated volunteers from all over Essex. In order to make the judging process easier we ask that clear and legible maps, which show all the items the judges need to look at, are submitted. A good map makes their job much easier and enjoyable.
