Benefits

• The development of a younger social care workforce

• Potential of highly employable, well motivated staff who have the necessary core values and relevant qualifications

• Service users, especially those in transition, can be supported by staff from their own age group

• The scheme will raise the profile of care work, amongst the younger generation

What an apprentice had to say…

“the scheme was beneficial to me because it broadened my horizons to the care world. I found the placements really helpful because they gave me a chance to get to know service users thoughts and understand care from their point of view”

What a ACS manager had to say…

“this experience has been positive for both the service users and the apprentice themselves. It was good to see the person growing in confidence and the service users enjoying the company of a younger person. We think the scheme is excellent; it nurtures young people to become the next generation of support workers, giving them both the necessary qualifications and the much needed practical experience”.
