This is rather important, as this classical definition, dating back to pre-Socratic times, has had a deep influence on theway thought and culture has developed throughout history and civilizations. The shortcoming, however, isthat this four-element thesis manages only to describe matter, thus a fifth element is needed to describethat, which is beyond the material world. WX LENS TECHNOLOGYWe’ve scoured the globe to ensure that our lenses are made from the world’smost impact-resistant materials, and ended up with a total of 8 layers to clarity – far exceeding ANSI Z87.1 safety and ANSI Z80.3 optical standards.

Our clear optical coating is a super-hydrophobic mixture that repels water, saltand ice from the surface of the lens. It also prevents surface spotting. Thisadvanced coating makes smudges and stains easy to remove with the softmicrofiber-cloth supplied with all Wiley X frames.

[2] + [7] - T-SHELLTM

This flexible hard-coat adds an extra layer of scratch resistance to each lensfor added protection and longer life. Keeps the lens from cracking or crazingto maintain clear vision.

[3] + [6] - SELENITETM POLYCARBONATE LENSESSource of the shatterproof reliability of Wiley X lenses. Each lens is die-cutfrom a larger lens blank to eliminate distortion and guarantee optical clarity atany angle. Selenite™ is 10 times more impact resistant than glass or resinlenses and easily exceed global impact standards.

[4] FILTER 8TM POLARIZED FILM This proprietary film adds 99.9% polarization to 100% ultra violet protectionfor unequaled clarity and contrast. In conjunction with our other high tech coat-ings, allows fantastic amount of light to reach the eyes’ pupils. Helps achieveperfect visual acuity.

[5] VIOLET 4TM AR (ANTI-REFLECTIVE) COATINGAdds another optical filter to each lens to eliminate back-lit glare, which is a major cause of fatigue and strain to the eyes.

LA™ – OptionalLight Adjusting LensesOur proprietary LA™ Lenses automatically adjust to changing light conditions,so you don’t have to. In bright conditions, they’re dark. But as the sky darkens,the lens will gradually lighten, with optical clarity remaining picture-perfectunder all conditions. As an added benefit our lenses are far safer than old pho-tochromic glass lenses, that could shatter on impact.

We then add the precise amount of dyes needed to eliminate eye fatigue and strain. All our lenses block 100% of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays (up to 400 nanometers), with enhanced vision being the benefit.

Our lenses are tough. So tough, in fact, that some even meet military specifications for ballisticimpactprotection. We design our eyewear to be durable, scratch resistant and built to handle prettymuch everything Mother Nature may decide to throw at you

Our High Velocity Protection™ system meets and exceeds ANSI Z87.1-2003 high velocity impactsafety and optical standards. Our Work Hard / Play Hard-concept also means that Wiley X ANSIapproved frames can be filled with a prescription safety lens that meets most on-the-job safetyrequirements.
