    Easter Sunday, March 31st

During the month of March, we celebrate Women’s History

Month to recognize and pay tribute to the strong women

who have made significant contributions to our history.

Women have worked hard to change and challenge various

institutions in order to create possibilities for women of the

future. Women have set the bar high for future generations

and laid a foundation for each and every woman to become

a leader in any field or profession she chooses. This year

we will be taking a closer look at women and their role in education. We will be

honoring Assistant Superintendent of the Wyandanch School District. Dr. Mary T.

Jones. Once cited in Newsday as a prototypical educator, Dr. Mary Jones has

literally built her entire education career on that definition. A high energy student

achievement focused and goal driven educator, Dr. Jones approaches each

challenge with an intrinsic flair for innovation, creative problem-solving and

risk-taking to drive consistent bottom-line student growth. Join us for this

fun-filled, entertaining and educational day. Sunday, March 17, 2013, 2:00 pm.

    Message From the Director

I would like to thank the Wyandanch Public Library Board of Trustees for the

opportunity to serve the residents of the Wyandanch Community. My name is

Sylvia Archibald and as your new Library Director I welcome this service and

hope to have a long, prosperous tenure with the community and the staff.

My role as Library Director is to ensure that our customers always receive the best

library services possible from our professional, resourceful and helpful staff. Our

goal will be to provide a library environment that is conducive to your personal

enjoyment and growth. We will strive to make every encounter a pleasant and

rewarding experience. Community residents will continue to have the resources

they need to enhance their leisure time and to explore topics of personal interests.

We will continue to promote reading so that our customers of all ages can continue

    their lifelong learning experiences.

Part of our on-going improvement process will involve reviewing feedback from

our library customers. I value your opinion of the Wyandanch Public Library and

the job we are doing. I will always be open to suggestions for improving services

and I welcome your input. Please feel free to contribute your ideas about our

library services, programs and our website too. Your comments and feedback will
