The jewel in the box is the
name given to this specific
project. The jewel which is
the main building is located
in the center of the project.
There are storefronts on
the first level, housing on
the second and third, as
well as an outdoor church
and school that exist
around the main building.
Located on levels two and
three are walkways around
the main building. The
walkways make it easier to
access the school, daycare,
and on the third floor the
outdoor church.
The picture to the bottom
right displays the first floor
and how using different
functions without walls work.
The illustration to the top
right shows entrance to the
site from the northwest.

This project is a non-
denominational church located
in a minority area. The overall
idea behind the building was to
include certain attributes of
the low poverty neighborhood
in combination and respect to
the present prevailing winds.
These two aspects helped
shape and form many of the
exterior and interior
characteristics of the church.
The arcs in front of the building
help form a sense of entry into
the building while the pool
located near the seating area
gives off a cool breeze with
respect to the prevailing winds.
Layers of light shelves and
clerestories help bring light
into the church.

Attention to Detail
The proposed church, Located In Baltimore, MD, was assigned on July of 2010. The project came with several drawings that helped in illustrating just how the church was to be put together. These drawings included certain details such as materials to the actual height of the steeple. The church, from July to September, was given life in a 3D concept based
off of precise 2D drawings.
