Hello!My name is Summer. With this portfolio I want to take you on a journey, showing you the different projects I have completed this past year both at university and during my own spare time. I have always been fascinated with digital media and very much enjoy discovering andexperimenting with the various different styles within the medium.

This visualization work mainly adopts tag cloud technology, database ex-traction technology, and it is able to perform basic interaction functions.

Tools such as EXCEL and SQL were used to divide the whole data set into eight small data sets (two genders with each gender being divided into four age groups). Keyword extraction was used to calculate the prevalence ratiofor each part of the body .

To clearly demonstrate disease preva-lence amongst Turkish people during the spring of 2009 and compare the data according to different age groups and genders, so as to analyze Turkishpeople’s disease trends.

The symptoms with the highest frequency in the eight age groups are extracted respectively and made into visual images using tag cloud tech-nology. The interactive interface in Processing can display data of the four age groups respectively, and the image shift among different groups can be realized simply by clicking the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the keyboard.

Images of male and female bodies represent each age group. By clicking separate parts of the body (head, upper limbs, lower limbs, etc.), prev-alence ratio and the cloud tag of the specific part of the body will be displayed clearly.

LINK & LOOK is a game designed specifically for Jiangnan University whereby players link matching faculties together to make them disappear.

L I N K & L O O K

Research was first conducted into algorithms and coding insimple link games.

This was followed by discussions regarding interface design and the development of certain functions. A great deal of time and effort was spent on programming, adding a timer, progress bar as well as a custom-made logo of each faculty within the university to give the game its distinctive look.

Micro JUMicro JUWeb DesignHtml5 Canvas Virtual Campus

Micro JU is a website designed to introduce prospective stu-dents to Jiagnan University. It offers a brief history of the uni-versity, courses on offer, frequently asked questions, pictures as well as 360’ panoramic views of ten different locations oncampus.

To achieve the 360’ panoramic shots a Canon 60D 18-135 was used, keeping the shooting parameters on identical set-tings. Twelve photographs, separated equally by a distance of 30 meters, were taken at each location to ensure all as-pects of the environment were captured and also smooth transition when roaming online. Photoshop CS and Pano2VRwere used for photo synthesis process.

Stop Motion Animation CompetitionFor A Greener Future

BYD ,2015With Mario tells a story on the importance of protecting the environment using a stop motion technique. The charac-ters and objects in the film were designed using clay.

This project, my first in stop motion animation work and which ranked 7th in the national BYD Cars competition,was completed through a process of trial and error.

Initially, the plan was to shoot the entire stop motion film using Canon 60D camera but that proved too difficult beause of problems with lighting and maintaining a consis-tent flow of images after moving the characters. So in-stead, PS and Premier were mainly used in the animtionsynthesis.

Mr. Zombie was borne out of a desire to learn how to use 3D MAXS during the national holiday. The original Minion character was used as a source of inspiration. The Minions have taken on a multitude of different roles but never that of a zombie andthat’s why I figured it would be a fun project to do.

The whole process from learning how to use 3D MAXS to the completion of the twenty-seven second video took one week.

Thank you so much for viewing my portfolio.Original concepts of digital media which require artistic thought involving scene design as well as human-computer interaction interests me greatly. So I tried to make those works. My work on the projects displayed in this portfolio helped mefurther cultivate my artistic aspirations.
