Nature’s Blog: “The Fragrant Roads”

As the Covid 19 pandemic has forced us to sit at home, it is very difficult for a per-son like me who wants to spend time with nature. Two days ago, I went to the market to buy some grocery. As the road was less crowded I thought of walking and suddenly I stopped. What a fragrance! I looked up and saw a tree in full bloom. With that all the gloomy thoughts just disappeared and felt very fresh. It was Saptaparni. Its name in English is Alstonia. It is a widespread and evergreen tree, with white flowers which bloom in a bunch. The fragrance is mind blowing. I remember visiting a flower vendor in Thane last year during Navaratri festival, whose shop is just below one Saptaparni tree. The fragrance surpasses all the fragrance of flowers in his shop… - Dr.Anjali Deshpande

Student Speak:

It is said that Engineers like to solve problems, if there are no problems available; they will create their own problems and similar is my journey that took different paths throughout the 4-year course of engineering. Right from entering the gates of Vidyalankar Institute for the very first time with great admiration for the infrastruc-ture of college to accomplishing a campus placement in one of the top multinational companies like Capgemini, it has been one memorable journey! Starting from one of the most exciting years of engineer-ing - the first year till reaching the end of the race - the final year, the management of VIT has always encouraged participation in academics as well as extracurricular activities. I always believe that the knowledge we learn should always be put into practical use and exploring different fields always helps to grow. VIT has vivid opportunities to showcase your talent. Be it being selected as the Technical Head of department committee - EESA or the Secretary of Student Council along with managing my academics, I had a journey that gave experiences that helped me achieve my goal. Belonging to a hardware department and accomplishing the target of achieving placement in companies like TCS, LTI, Capgemini has always been a mountain climb-ing experience for every student, but the department and college faculties never failed to support us and provided students with all necessary facilities. With the enthusiastic and developing atmosphere of VIT, one always learns to handle situations and solve real-life problems along with meeting people of different back-grounds that help to grow one’s overall personality. Each person has a mission, finds their mission differently, and has a different story, it is upon us as to how we shape the road for working towards our purpose, and with the help of VIT it is smooth to carve the path. — Rameen Tungekar (B.E.
