SUBJECT: Lack of Contract Number for LEU Metal Polls

To whom it may concern,

The US DOE is pleased to confirm that it Is transferring, free of charge, 7 metal fuel foils of low

enriched uranium (LEU) to the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and 7 metal fuel foIls of LEUto CERCA AREVA NP (for a total of 14 LEU foils). The foils are a metal fuel alloy consisting of 90weight percent uranium and 10 weight percent molybdenum. The maximum total weight for the 14folls will be 145 grams. The total U will be approximately 130 grams and the total U235 will be 25grams. This material is being sent to TUM for development of fabrication processes in support of aUS irradiation test (EMPIRE), which will support non-proliferation LEU conversion programs forinternational high performance research reactors, including the FRM-ll reactor at TUM. Iffabrication efforts are successful, these LEU folls maybe returned to the US to the Idaho NationalLaboratory for material irradiation In the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR). Any unused samples orscrap from fabrication may or may not be returned to the US depending on program direction.
