Earsffoorr yyoouurDear Friends,

Welcome! We are thrilled that you are joining us for the 25th Anniversary season of CMFS.

We started celebrating this landmark season earlier this spring with a wonderful concert featuring Andrew Le and Meredith Arwady at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts. We thank the SCA for inviting us into their home and for ‘saluting’ our anniversary with this specialevent.

The celebration continued with a first-ever concert at the Lakeshore Chapel on July 1st,,another ‘salute’, this time from our friends in this historic lakeshore community. Hopefully, many of you were able to attend one of these special events.

We have aggressively increased our education efforts this year, our own way of honoring ourpast and our founders, with a series of programs in area elementary schools in May, a trio ofspecial Young Listener Concerts scheduled for July and August at the SCA (check the websitefor details), and even more in-school education events scheduled for the Fall.

We cannot let pass the opportunity to especially thank the key contributors who stepped upand helped us gather the funds needed to make these extra efforts possible this year. Theirspecial donations gave our Education Fund (established in memory of Wayne Richards) theboost it needed to plan extra programs this year and to start exciting new educational venturesfor the years ahead, they brought our Joan Conway Young Artists Program fund to within ahair’s breadth of achieving its endowment goal and they funded the extra large roster of artists you will enjoy on our stage this year. You will find the names of these 25th Anniversary supporters listed in this program. We are blessed with such generous patrons! And we all, as individuals and as a community, benefit from their gifts.

Finally this fall, we are planning a very special ‘Celebrate 25’ party on Sunday, October 7. We hope you will be there to join us in applauding the longevity of this wonderful festival and in thanking our Guests of Honor –the musicians who have filled our summers with music for the past quarter century.

Now, we invite you to sit back and enjoy the best celebration of all. Our Artistic Directors,Drew and Jenny, have planned six wonderful weeks of chamber music, with each programuniquely suited to celebrate our 25th season. As you enjoy the concerts this summer, we hope you will reflect – as we will – on the many musicians, underwriters, donors, volunteers, audience members, board members, community supporters and more whose dedication oftime and talent over the years have infused this festival with the vibrancy it brings to its 25thyear. We believe CMFS will be with us for many years to come. We hope you will be as well!

Larissa Fall

I will be a Junior at Hope College this fall studying Music-ViolinPerformance. I studied the violin privately under Jennifer Walvoordand am now studying under Mihai Craioveanu. This will be my second year as an intern for CMFS and I am very excited for thisseason! I learned about the internship opportunity through JenniferWalvoord and Andrew Le. I know that meeting the different musicians and experiencing the behind the scenes work it takes toput a chamber performance together will shape me as a musician and provide me withcrucial knowledge for my future.

Katie Seifert

I graduated from Holland Christian High School in May 2010, andI have now finished my sophomore year at Calvin College. I ampursuing a major in Speech Pathology with a Spanish minor. I amalso actively involved in the music program at Calvin, where I playviolin in the orchestra, participate in chamber music, and take private lessons under the instruction of Dr. David Reimer. My previous instructors have included Christine Witte, Tammy Clark, and Jenny Walvoord.

I am so excited for the opportunity to be a part of CMFS this summer. So much has to happen to put on a performance, and although I have been both a performer and an audience member before, I have never been a part of the performance that happens behind stage. I am looking forward to working with and gettingto know many new people this summer at CMFS!
