Y Soft and Social ResponsibilityCorporate social responsibility (CSR) aims to embrace responsibility for corporate actions and to encourage a positive impact on the environment and stakeholders including consumers, employees, investors, communities, and others.

Y Soft is aware of social responsibility, therefore we carry out activities that help to enhance and improve the lives of people around us. Y Soft is convinced that a sustainable company is one that creates value for both society and itself by integrating its efforts to resolve social improve corporate competitiveness and profits.

On the following pages is our effort transformed into smiles. And smiles change Lives :)

Diocesan Charity BrnoY Soft and its staff support a local charity and its projects in the long term. As in every year, this year we gave 23 pieces of technical equipment, among other things 11 monitors, which serve the everyday operation of the Diocesan Charity.

Employees, in addition to regular collections of toys and clothes organized two to three times a year, collected 13 400 CZK during the Christmas raffle, which was sent to support the charity’s activities. As Diana Tuyet-Lan Kosinová, head of the Public Relations Department, states: “From a selected amount of money we buy, for example, 5 days of housing for a disabled person or the carrying out of 3 visits by a nurse for the elderly that could not be without the help of others.“

The organization, the Diocesan Charity Brno, helps people that cannot take care of themselves, whether due to age, physical or mental disability or adverse social conditions. It operates within the Brno diocese, which covers almost the entire territory of the South Moravian region and part of the Vysočina region.

Scandal 2014As this already happens to be a beautiful tradition connected with our birthday celebrations, this year included, Y Soft donated a total of 7 168 USD to a good cause. The team spirit of Y Soft helps throughout the world.

In Malaysia (Y Soft Asia Pacific), a total of 1 000 USD went to the “Operation Hope Foundation”, Singapore, whose aim is

to improve the lives of children and poor people in developing countries.

Then from Jamaica (Y Soft North and Latin America), 1 120 USD went to “Action Against Hunger”, a global association fighting against hunger.

In the Czech Republic, Y Soft contributed 104 000 CZK (5 048 USD) to Diocesan Charity Brno and, according to the director Oldřich Haičman, the money donated will help Effeta - a daily care center for people with mental disabilities, the St. Michaela sheltered housing for people with learning disabilities and autism, daily and temporary residence for the elderly and CELSUZ - professional social counseling.

Not only about educationInvestment into education is never a waste for us, whether it is about our staff or partners. At the same time, we are continuing our long-term cooperation with the academic community and students on research projects or bachelor and master theses.

Along with these activities, we support, and not only financially, many other events and projects, for example, Babel Camp, Technology Hour, TEDx Brno and Prague, Barcamp, Edu Hackathon, Technology Hour, Rails Girls...

Alley of the YearThis year, Y Soft became a partner of the project Alley of the Year, organized by the Czech non-profit organization Arnika. The aim is to protect those trees that significantly contribute to the shaping of our landscape. Unfortunately in the past, thousands of trees, especially next to roads, disappeared permanently.

We sent 10 000 CZK and want to contribute, not only financially but also through our behavior, to the protection of the environment for the next generation.

One of the patrons of the event is Richard Brulík, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing in Y Soft:

“We support the project Alley of the Year with pleasure, because we are also connected in Y Soft by our love of nature. We like to take a break from our offices, and do it preferably on a bike or skis. And when we think about it, the trees are silent companions for us in all of these activities, and so, not only because of this, they deserve our care.”

Y Soft not just on a bicycleWe became cycle-employer of the year in Brno in 2013, and this relates to our additional support of healthy and organic transport. In addition to our involvement in the project “To Work on a Bike”, we are helping to solve the mobility of employees with more friendly modes of transport. The result is a company “Mobility Plan” prepared by Nadace Partnerství, which is one of the first of its kind in the whole of the Czech Republic. Part of it was also the campaign, “Mobility Week”, in the Brno technology Park area. In addition to the reinforcement of the connections of public transport, which has already happened, we currently deal with, for instance, the identification of hazardous areas for pedestrians and cyclists.

This year, we are bringing to the Czech Republic the well-known developer conference, GeeCON, an event specialized on Java technology. This event attracts participants from all over Europe, and celebrities from around the world lecture here. The event takes place in Prague, 23. – 24. 10. 2014.

Renovation of the StateY Soft succeeds internationally mainly thanks to its full compliance with ethical business principles and fair play, which should be reflected in society in all areas of life.

Also, because of this, we have decided to provide support to the project “Renovation of the State”, which concentrates on the anti-corruption organizations (e.g. Transparency International), companies, the citizens in the regions and politicians that obstruct the current situation.

“Although I do not plan to engage in politics, we can not just sit with a beer and criticize the current dismal political situation,” explains Václav Muchna, who has also included himself among the patrons and advisers of the project, whose mission is to contribute to the enforcement of quality laws for the Renovation of the State.

NakoleOnaBrno 2014

We have also supported the Brno campaign “NakoleOna”, which aims to demonstrate the interest in urban cycling. The project is also supported by the European Commission’s campaign for sustainable urban mobility and is the biggest in the Czech Republic. This year, over 1,400 enthusiastic cyclists attended the event.

As a first step, Y Soft provided support to the tune of 200 000 CZK. “We will use this contribution to the campaign, whose purpose is to bring the project Renovation of the State to the awareness of the general public” adds Jiří Boudal, Coordinator of the project Renovation of the State.

At the same time, we participate in a project “zIndex”, which is an evaluation of the good practices of the contracting authorities of public tenders. It uses quantitative criteria to evaluate public tenders in terms of compliance with the anti-corruption codes and therefore as an indicator of possible corruption.

We are still in motion...

Brno’s Dog DaysY Soft also became a partner of the event Brno’s Dog Days, organized by Lucie Seďová (Y Soft’s Supply Chain specialist) this year. “For the third year we received a 25 000 CZK contribution, without which, it would not be possible to organize this event,” added Lucy.

The event introduces to children and adults everything that a dog needs, how to properly treat them and the interesting things that can be done with dogs. This year, dozens of dogs tested their abilities in the disciplines of agility, catching a Frisbee and dog dancing. One special discipline is “Voříškiáda”, designated for crossbreeds, for which otherwise dog shows are forbidden.

The races were accompanied by demonstrations of other dog sports, from which a demonstration of mantrailing and bull sports had the biggest success.
