Y3 Learning pack – Week 7 (01/6/20) Summer term Hello Year 3! Now half term has been and gone, it’s time to start the second summer term. Can you believe that you have nearly finished year 3? We think this has been the quickest year ever and can’t believe we are starting the final term. You have all been amazing to cope with all of the changes and challenges that this year has thrown at you. Never forget that! Here is your next home learning pack to keep you busy. As before, you have five maths activities, three English activities, three reading activities and a creative task. You can print off this booklet or just complete the work on paper. This is your pack so you can use it however you like. Remember your grown-ups are busy working too and some may have even had to go back to work, so why not see how you get on with these tasks on your own. Your grown-ups, and us, will be super impressed by your independence. This week we have decided to not stick with one theme/topic, there are lots of different reading and writing activities to keep you busy. There may be activities that you like more than others but remember, once it’s done you’ll feel great and you don’t have to do it again. With all of the changes, we are missing you all even more. Please tweet us your work, whether it is from these packs or just anything you get up to. We feel very proud when we see what work you have been doing at home. It definitely makes our day! Stay safe and happy! Love Miss Pillar, Mrs Barrett and Miss Steele P.S. If you have forgotten your Times Tables Rockstars login, ask your grown up to either email or ring school to get it.

Hello Year 3!

Now half term has been and gone, it’s time to start the second summer term. Can you

believe that you have nearly finished year 3? We think this has been the quickest year ever

and can’t believe we are starting the final term. You have all been amazing to cope with all

of the changes and challenges that this year has thrown at you. Never forget that!

Here is your next home learning pack to keep you busy. As before, you have five maths

activities, three English activities, three reading activities and a creative task. You can print

off this booklet or just complete the work on paper. This is your pack so you can use it

however you like. Remember your grown-ups are busy working too and some may have

even had to go back to work, so why not see how you get on with these tasks on your own.

Your grown-ups, and us, will be super impressed by your independence.

This week we have decided to not stick with one theme/topic, there are lots of different

reading and writing activities to keep you busy. There may be activities that you like more

than others but remember, once it’s done you’ll feel great and you don’t have to do it

again.

With all of the changes, we are missing you all even more. Please tweet us your work, whether it is from these packs or just anything you get up to. We feel very proud when we see what work you have been doing at home. It definitely makes our day!

Stay safe and happy!

Love Miss Pillar, Mrs Barrett and Miss Steele

Writing task 1 – Diary entry

As last week was half term, we would love to hear what you got up to – especially as the

weather was SO lovely! Your task today is to write a recount of what you got up to. You could

set this out like a diary, you could write about the whole week or just one day in particular.

Can you include:

Expanded noun phrases

Fronted adverbials

Similes

Here is an example to help you:

Dear diary,

At the start of the week, it was my Mums birthday. We went to the shop and bought some

delicious chocolates and a bouquet of beautiful flowers and delivered them onto her

doorstep. She was delighted and it felt wonderful to bring some joy to those we missed.

As the week went on, we noticed that the sun was shining like rivers of gold. As fast as

lightening, we rushed to the lake to enjoy a walk in the sunshine. We saw an elegant swan

floating peacefully on the enormous lake. Quietly, fisherman sat on the edge with their long

fishing rods eager to catch the little fishes that swam below.

We noticed towards the end of the week that we were getting low on food and decided to go

shopping. Excitedly, I noticed that there was flour back on the shelves. As it was also my

daughter’s birthday this week, I decided to bake her a birthday cake with rich caramel icing. I

also had a barbeque to take advantage of the warm sunshine. The smell was delicious, and my

tummy rumbled like a volcano as we sat together and enjoyed our time in the sun.

Use this diary checklist to check you’ve

included everything you need.

Year 3 and 4 Statutory Spelling List

Whilst we are not sending spelling activities home, we thought it would be useful to attach

a list of the spellings that the children focus on throughout year 3 and 4.

There are many fun ways to practice spellings, each week we will give you a couple of

suggestions to try at home.

This week to practice your spellings you could:

Hidden words

Draw and colour a picture. Write your spelling word within the picture and see if

someone can find it.

Food spelling

Use your finger and trace each word in a try filled with sand, salt, flour, sugar, shaving

cream or what every you can put in the tray (box lid, cookie sheet etc.).

other times table quizzes to answer.

Creative task – Nature artwork

Since the weather is so lovely, we thought the best thing to do is to get you guys outside.

This week for your creative task we would like you to create some artwork using nature as

your inspiration. When you’re out on a walk or in your garden, why not collect different

materials (twigs, leaves, flowers) and see what artwork you can create using them. There is

no wrong or right artwork for this, just be as creative as you like.

Remember to tweet your work (@Y3Carfield) so we can share your master pieces with

everyone else. Who knows, your idea might inspire others.
