Sahara Goddess

Introduction:

– This mini collection is inspired by the Libyan Desert (Sahara) and it reflects the richness, beauty and strength of the desert through different silhouettes and vibrant colours. I had different sources of inspiration from within the desert theme and worked upon them. The elements I worked on are the beautiful glass that’s known by the Libyan Desert Glass, the shapes of the gems and transparency are very eye catching and it inspired me to choose transparent fabrics like tulle and chiffon and add embellishments on the designs. The other elements I worked on were the desert falcon and the dunes, and I was also inspired by the traditional Libyan costume that represents the Berber young ladies of Libya; it is very rich with details, colours and accessorized with lots of real silver. The costume emphasizes the waist by wrapping the waist area with a long wide fabric, and this inspired me to imply the narrow waist illusion to accentuate the curvy appearance of the body in my designs.
