FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS PSSA A big thank you to all the parents who assisted and supported us with PSSA this year (we all loved the oranges at half time - very refreshing). What a fantastic season we have had in Netball and Soccer. I would like to congratulate all the children who participated. They represented our school with pride and for our first year back in the competition they performed extremely well. I will send out the results as soon as I receive them. Next year I am hoping to have PSSA in Term 1 and 4 (Summer competition) as well as Term 2 and 3 (Winter competition). There will be a number of different sports on offer and we will select teams for those sports depending on popularity. Term 4 Sport The school will again be participating in a Tennis program. The program will run for ten weeks by a qualified tennis coach. There will be no cost for the program as I have acquired a grant to pay for the weekly lessons. Children in K-2 will also be receiving a free tennis racquet to use for the lessons as we have established a school partnership with HOTSHOTS TENNIS. Outside sporting achievements It is always great to hear how our children at Yates perform in sport outside of school. A number of children have let me know of their achievements of winning a final or even a very close loss. Either way, it is amazing for me to hear and I would like to get the information into our newsletter. Please send me an email or have your child write a little extract all about it and send it to me. I look forward to seeing them. Mr Coon Rel. Assistant Principal

PRESCHOOL In the lead up to Kindergarten orientation, the Preschool Dolphins and Turtles have been spending more time with their Kindy friends and big buddies. Our transition to school program begins when the children start Preschool and continues throughout the preschool year. During this time, children develop a sense of belonging, learn new routines and develop a range of skills to become confident and involved learners. They also participate in many school events and have regular opportunities to explore the school environment. Over the last few weeks, we have enjoyed our visits with our buddies. These experiences are valuable opportunities for the children to get to know each other, to develop relationships and enable us to learn with and from each other. We enjoy planning our visits, recording our learning and sharing our experiences with our families. We look forward to continuing our visits next term.
