Foil-Tec Single is a multi-layer foil laminate, coated with nitrocellu-lose to provide a corrosion resistant insulation system.Foil-Tec Single is a high-performance material which acts creat-ing a low emissivity air space below the floor, thus reflecting the

heat back.Foil-Tec Single can be applied to enhance ‘U’ values in newbuild or refurbished building projects to meet and exceedcurrent Building Regulations.

In Suspended Floor Applications• Foil-Tec Single is rolled

out with the shiny side facingupwards, over the joists

• Foil-Tec Single is then nailed inplace through the Foil-TecSaddle Clips to main tainrequired air gap - 4 per m 2

• The horizontal joints areoverlapped by 100mm and are left open to allow anymoisture accumulation todissipate

• Foil-Tec SIngle must be brought up (behind the skirtingboard) to 75mm

• The decking is then fixed with screws (at 200mm centres)37mm into the joists

In Crawl Space Applications• Foil-Tec Double is rolled

out on the underside of the joiststhen stapled in place. Access tothe under side of the joists isgained via the crawl space.

• The horizontal joints areoverlapped by 100mm and are left open to allow anymoisture accumulation todissipate.

• Foil-Tec Double must be sealedaround the perimeter or broughtup above the floor deck.

For Concrete Floor Applications• Foil-Tec Single is rolled

out onto concrete floorwith shiny side facingupwards - leavingenough edge overlap for75mm lip to be left be-hind skirting

• Timber battens/joists(min 50mm x 50mm) arethen laid on top of theFoil-Tec Single, spacedat centres to suit theparticular flooring.

• The decking is then fixed with screws (at 200mm centres) into battens/joists providing 25mmpenetration into the 50mm wide battens/joists

Joist End Fitting Recommendations

Make 2 x 75-100mm cuts in Foil-tec - same width asjoist. Then make one further cut, same width again, oneach side. Fold up flap(A), fold back flaps (B) and pullFoil-tec (C) up to meet wall. Fix to wall and fit skirtingboard over, concealing Foil-tec.

The heat loss in a floor is greater at the exposedperimeter edge of the floor. To calculate the U-Value, theexposed perimeter edge to area ratio needs to be workedout e.g. - a 100m2 area, semi-detached house with 3external walls of 10m each has a perimeter edge to arearatio of 0.3 (i.e. 30m -: 100m2=0.3) which, using Foil-TecSingle, gives a U-Value of 0.3 W/m2K.

Foil-Tec provides additional strength and thermalperformance over conventional vapour control layer materialgiving the added benefit of a service cavity.
