LOCATION: Yarrawonga (1-2 hours per fortnight)

DUTIES: To provide companionship by regular 1:1 visits to an aged care resident to improve their quality of life and to reduce potential isolation and loneliness.

TASKS: Provide friendship througha range of social activities including conversation, walks, craft, reading, watching movies, outings and participating in facility activities. Complete visiting records.

SKILLS REQUIRED: A demonstrated genuine empathy and understanding of older people; effective communication and listening skills and the ability to seek advice as appropriate. There is also volunteering opportunities for those who speak languages other that English. All volunteers must undergo a national police check.

*Note: This is a non-paid volunteer role and does not involve personal care – it is about making a difference through companionship.
