Dear Alumni,

I congratulate you all on the successful completion of your degree programs and welcome you to Isra University Alumni Association. IUAA was established in 2004 with the aim of promoting an enduring relationship with our alumni so that they may maintain an abiding sense of belonging to their Alma Mater after graduation. It has more than 6000 members at its three campuses in Hyderabad, Karachi and Islamabad. It gives me great pleasure to be able to say that Isra University has more than a hundred graduate and post graduate programs in the fields of Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences, Engineering, Management Sciences, and Computer-related disciplines, which testifies to our commitment to foster educational excellence.

You, our alumni, represent us and we value the significant role that each one of you plays in enabling us to achieve our goals. As you become involved with your post-academic life, pursuing a dedication to excel in your respective fields, you will find yourselves ever busier with each passing day. However, your journey with IU will never end, no matter where life and career aspirations may lead you. It was a great honor and privilege to have served as President of IUAA for the year 2016. I am grateful to the Patron to have entrusted me with this responsibility.

The main goal of IUAA is to support and promote its member graduates. With this in mind, I will briefly outline our initiatives in 2016. For the first time, we have conducted an alumni awareness session in which we helped graduating students understand the role of IUAA and how it can be of future benefit to graduates. We conducted career counselling sessions in which we invited notable professionals, some of whom were IUAA members, to provide guidance on the options available for graduating students. We are introducing IUAA membership cards with associated benefits at participating commercial establishments. We are also launching the IUAA App (Android version) with features to facilitate communication and collaboration between alumni members, share useful information about job openings, and keep in touch with the latest news happenings at IU. Lastly, in another first for IUAA, we are publishing a year book in which we not only give recognition to new graduates, but also honor the achievements of past ones. We will be distributing the year book to reputable organizations in order to publicize the achievements and potential of Isra's graduates. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the Office Bearers, volunteers, and IUAA staff that made all this possible.

This year was an excellent learning experience for myself. Did we do enough!? No! Could we have done better!? Yes! We have plenty of ideas which we will be sharing with the incoming IUAA Team in order to maintain continuity and improve IUAA's effectiveness. I have every confidence that they will build upon what we have managed to achieve and do better.

I would like to congratulate the current graduates of IU and welcome them to IUAA. I hope and pray that you all achieve the best and have prosperous and fulfilling lives. Always remember, IUAA's sole rationale is its members. It is what we, the members, make of it. It is our collective responsibility as members that, having received as students, it is now our turn to give back as graduates. I assumed the privilege of becoming Vice president of Isra University Alumni Association on December 10, 2015.

On behalf of IUAA, I congratulate all the graduates of this year on this prodigious achievement. All your hard-work, nocturnal study sessions and constant multi-tasking have paid off. It is with great pleasure that I welcome each one of you to this Alumni Association.

This year, we had an ambitious run with multitude of activities and initiatives. At the start of the academic year, we organized an awareness session to enlighten the students about IUAA and its activities. We also started a series of robust Career Counselling sessions to help students make the informed decisions about their future educational prospects and career.

And now as the year ends, we are launching Yearbook for the first time and I am honored to be part of it.

As we keep on working to strengthen the Alumni Association, it is tremendously important for the future of this association to get recognized outside the campus. The more we are known for what we've achieved, the more we'll be able to attract the stakeholders of this association. So, at the association we're working hard to be sure that IUAA gets that recognition. But we alone can not achieve it, we need you for achieving our objectives.

Looking ahead, we also see a clear need to prioritize continuity in the initiated tasks. We all are playing on the same team, working towards the same goals. If we want to reach those goals together, we all have to move in the same direction together persistently.

Dear Alumni,

Congratulations on achieving this milestone in your life.

I have been serving as Director of Student Affairs for several years now and my role in IUAA is of the Coordinator between its Patron and President. I have seen so many students graduate from this university who are now accomplished professionals and are leading a very successful life. And I am confident that one day, I will see each one of you live your ambitions too.

Engagement of students in campus activities is an important part of university life as it helps in their holistic personal, intellectual and social development. Our office connects students, faculty, student societies and relevant external stakeholders to create an enriching experience integrated in excellence. We assist students to explore different facets of their time in IU and to make best out of it. Every year, we organize an array of different events and activities for academic advancement of students and we constantly look forward to maintain an active environment that fosters leadership capability, cultivates efficacy and promotes diversity and persistent learning. We also help students to organize their own extracurricular events, academic seminars and sessions within the university and facilitate their participation in forums outside the campus.

I graduated in 2004 as a Computer Scientist with outstanding academic knowledge, fully geared up to enter the IT services industry. Just a fortnight later there was a wonderful stroke of fortune and I was hired as an Assistant Software Engineer. I was so quick to keep up that within twelve months, I was promoted thrice. In just few years, I was working with multinational clients; visiting different countries, providing services and playing the role of a consultant.

Alhumdulillah, thirteen years down the road, I now have a diverse experience in a variety of technical and management roles. During these thirteen years, I have worked with both corporate and government entities in locations spanning North America, South America, Middle East and Asia and have significant experience with a variety of technologies including IBM Watson and IBM Smarter Cities. I have acquired nine technical and management certifications from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Houston, IBM and Oracle. I am currently employed by an IBM Premier Partner in the role of Senior Architect in several projects.

I graduated from Isra University in 2002 with a degree in Masters in Management Information System. I then started my career working for independent web development companies in Karachi named: Pivotalblack & Orienttec, both part of the McCann Group worldwide. In the initial years, I worked in the design department and on account of my interest in design & education in management, I managed to grow faster.

In 2004, I moved to Geo TV network as the head of production design teams. Later in 2006, I was managing the core broadcast design teams at AGG TV. I moved to Dubai in 2008 and since then my life has not been short of opportunities. I worked at LOWE Mena as a Sr. Art Director, relaunched an Independent Agency called 'Livingroom,' engaged in fashion photography, and co-founded a company, 'Things by People' (thingsbypeople.com) which is considered one of the top creative and fashion agencies in the Middle East.

During this tenure, I have received several awards including advertising Award at Dubai Lynx, and eight other awards for MTV, Etisalat, RedBull and Apple. In the year 2013-2014, I published my first book on design and photography called 'Type & Face.' Owing to my untiring passion to break new ground, I have been featured by Bespoke, Stylist, Campaign & Quint Magazines for the change I have brought in the region.

I am currently serving as Vice Dean, Basic Medical Sciences at Isra University Hyderabad Campus along with working as an Associate Professor in Department of Forensic Medicine. I graduated from Isra University Hyderabad Campus in 2002 and obtained Diploma in Medical Jurisprudence (DMJ) from University of Health Sciences Lahore, Pakistan, in 2007. I have also completed M.Phil. and PhD in Anatomy from Isra University in 2010 and 2016 respectively.

I have more than 12 years of teaching experience. I have several publications to my credit and have participated in several International and National conferences especially related to Forensic Medicine, Anatomy and Medical Education. The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect, but by the playful instinct emerging from inner necessity; the creative mind plays with the object it loves. My aim is to find out new ways for diagnosis of life threatening diseases. My research work is also within the same area and is titled "Expression of Mi-RNAs and BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 Genes in Breast Cancer Patients and their association with the grade and stage of Tumor."

My M.Phil in Histopathology is also from Isra University, Hyderabad and I am currently working as a Professor in Department of Pathology. My work has been published in 6 National and 2 international journals including International Journal of Biology and Biotechnology, Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences and Pak Armed Forces Medical Journal.

I have amassed 13 years of work and professorial experience in the field of Pathology. I have more than 10 co-authored international and national publications to my credit. My area of research interest during PhD was 'Cytogenetics and molecular disorders in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia' and my most recent publication is 'Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia; Chromosomal abnormalities in childhood reporting at tertiary care hospitals of Sindh.'

In an effort to add value to the field of Pathology, I have conducted key presentations and have attended many workshops and seminars. Diagnostic haematology including Bone Marrow aspiration, biopsy and immunohistochemistry in particular fascinate me. I am an experienced Pathology professional with about 16 years of work and teaching experience. My work has been widely published with 23 co-authored publications; the most recent being “Bladder carcinoma; micro-RNAs: expression of miR-145 in patients, as a new diagnostic approach” from my doctoral research. I keep myself abreast of the latest developments in molecular pathology and have attended many seminars and workshops. Owing to my relentless contributions to the field of Pathology, I was awarded lifetime membership of Pakistan Association of Pathologists (PAP) in December 2013. In addition to my regular assignments to teach undergraduate students, I have also established Clinical & Diagnostic Laboratory in ATMC&H Karachi and have supervised M.Phil candidates in their research assignments.

My academic journey at Isra University from 2002 till now has been very gratifying. And even though I am graduating, I am not saying good bye too early because there's still a lot I would like to engage in. I started my university education in 2002 as a BBA(IT) scholar. But this wasn't what I wanted to do. My dream career was architecture. With a creative mind, a knack for creativity, architecture was perfect for me. Or so I felt. But then life happened and I decided to pursue BBA(IT) from Isra University. Since then there has been no looking back. Being a wife and mother, I had every reason to quit my studies. But with my never quenching thirst for knowledge and a supportive husband by my side, I had every reason to continue it. And so I did.

For both my MBA and M.Phil. I chose Human Resource Management as my specialization keeping in mind the indispensable role of human capital within organizations. My research on “Impact of Leader Empowering Behavior on Employee Work Engagement: Mediating Role of Organizational Justice Perceptions” will provide knowledge to HR community regarding significant variables affecting employee engagement at work. I would like to impart my knowledge to future generations and continue this journey towards the betterment of society.

Four years back when I joined Isra University, I had no idea of what the future would unfold. I used to wonder if I will be a good student, if I will uphold my legacy of always securing first position, if I will make my parents proud and suchlike. Four years later, I can proudly say that I have done all that. Not only did I stay on the top since my first semester, but I also experienced things I had never thought of. I participated in all extra-curricular activities, joined societies, went on a scholarship to National University of Singapore and met an amazing bunch of friends. But there is still a lot I want to do. I want to go overseas on a scholarship for my post-graduation and before I embark on my dream entrepreneurial journey, I want to work at a giant to gain the experience necessary to succeed.

I am from the dental department and having studied so much for these four years, I now love studying everything that is medical related. These four years have been very special for me and I truly mean it when I say that my university life gave birth to a very different Ateeqa. Not only have I become an avid med student, but also have become self-reliant. Though balancing studies with extra-curricular activities was a challenge, but still I used to participate in symposiums and medical seminars to keep myself updated. I am really going to miss my time at Isra, but every ending leads to a new beginning, and the only way to realize my dream of becoming a Doctor of Dental Surgery in the States is to bid farewell to this amazing time I now have in the shape of memories.

I love this field and what else validates this than the fact that I have consistently topped since my first semester. I may come across as very chatty, but I cannot put in words how much good this trait has done me. There have been so many times when just this ability has helped me in my presentations and in communicating with people. Now that I am graduating, nothing makes me happier than recalling my teachers' comments that I have got a great brain up there, or that I am a nice person, or that I will turn out to be a brilliant physiotherapist. I enjoy working on research papers and my research skills have improved a great deal from participating in different research and poster presentation competitions. I also have three internship experiences; two from LUMHS and one from Isra Hospital. Owing to my internship experiences, I excel in medical practice and my helping nature has always made my colleagues feel welcome in the face of any difficulty. Being a very organized person, I don't like wasting my time on anything that is not productive. My advice to all med students has always been to learn to set priorities. Proper time management does wonders and you end up accomplishing everything on time. It has always worked for me and that is the only reason I managed to stay amongst the toppers throughout my MBBS while simultaneously being active in extracurricular activities. Being conscious of the importance of medical workshops, CMEs and symposiums, I have always made a point of being part of these events. If you compare the input Fizza with the output Fizza, you'll realize there is a colossal difference between the two. This is attributable to the venturesome journey I went through my four years. Each succeeding day unbridled something new in me. Not only was I a meritorious scholarship holder during this tenure, but also the youngest author to attend International Research Conference held at Isra University. My flair for debates took me to many regional debate competitions where I represented Isra University. But the cherry on top was securing first position in my final year group project. This final victory gave an amazing end to an already wonderful journey.

I am fortunate to realize its significance, therefore despite being the first person from my family to choose to go to a university, I was steadfast to tenaciously saunter this path. With no proper guidance and knowledge about other fields, I chose Medicine as it is a very common field. Now when I am graduating and I look back, I am satiated that I made the right decision.

Credence in myself and my hard-work is what drives me to transcend my counterparts. My achievements in academics and in my personal life are because of my passion to learn and guidance of my teachers. Freedom is immensely crucial to me; freedom to make decisions and freedom to make choices. There is nothing I enjoy more than liberty.

Perfectionist by disposition, I believe discipline is essential to one's success and this is what I admire about this university; there is absolutely no compromise on rules. The authorities here are adamant about it which might be annoying for students at times but at the end of the day, it is for their own well-being. Being a straight forward person, I appreciate people with bold souls who have audacity to take spontaneous decisions when necessary.

I have never been a gregarious person but Isra taught me the importance of having a social circle. The incredible diversity that I found here helped me to coexist with varying opinions and perspectives. Everyone here has their own story and it's amazing to hear their personal anecdotes.

My time here passed swiftly and it still feels like yesterday that I joined this university. Isra gave me the title of “Doctor” and I am proud of it. It is a sacred profession of which I want to uphold the dignity. I have seen many graduates of this university accomplishing their ambitions and I aspire to be among them. With an aim of becoming an interventional cardiologist, I am hopeful to establish a hospital where the needy are provided health facilities free of cost.

After graduating from Isra University in Computer Science, I pursued Masters in Business Administration. My strength is my self-confidence and my ability to work hard irrespective of circumstances. I was part of different on-campus societies while at Isra which horned my skillset and helped me gain knowledge in a variety of subjects that are closely aligned with my field of interest i.e. business. It also helped me prepare for leadership positions in my career. One advice that I want to give to my juniors is to engage in extracurricular activities. In today's competitive environment, just doing well in academics does not suffice; one needs to have a balanced profile and step out of the comfort zone.

I was fortunate to undertake my internship in State Bank of Pakistan in Procurement and Budgeting and in the coming years, I see myself as a valuable asset in a growing organization where I can learn every day.

Belonging to a very small town near Ghotki, I didn't know anybody in Hyderabad. So I was apprehensive about living in a hostel but fortunately I met genial people; everyone around me were friendly and willing to help which helped me to accustom to the surroundings.

The best thing about studying physiotherapy is that you get to learn how your bodies function and have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills to improve the quality of life for those who cannot do it on their own.

I am a very sporty person. I participated in almost every sport event in university and managed to win as well. I am also a very social person and love being around people. In my clinical practice class, when someone asked my instructor to name one person from our batch who will become the best physiotherapist; he took my name. It was a priceless moment to be receiving such kind of encouragement and acknowledgement from my teacher.

I have been seeking advice from consultants who are established professionals in my field and it has helped me to have a broad spectrum for future. My immediate aim is to gain experience and exposure by working in Karachi and then continue my studies abroad. As I love sports, I look forward to make my way as a physiotherapist in Pakistan Cricket Team.

Now that I have gained four years of academic experience, my career path is more visible, and I can discern more clearly the track I want to pursue and the certain knowledge I need to get there. I always wanted to study CS because computer system and software fascinate me so I wanted to explore more around these fields. To my delight, I made it to Isra University in Computer Software program. Each course that studied came with its accompanying challenges allowing me to ruminate on multiple facets of this discipline in depth. The high quality of lectures and stimulating nature of content galvanized my interest to become a digital creator in future.

I have had some excellent opportunities to enhance my capability in these four years including IEEE seminars, ICube and programming competitions. I have done fairly well in academics too. I have been working for a software house since July 2015 and I want to establish my own software company in future.

Four years of university have instilled poise in my personality and have made me a confident person. People know me for multi-tasking as I have organized multifarious activities, study tours, competitions, and covered events as a photographer and videographer on multiple occasions in Isra.

Additionally, I have also volunteered as a creative designer and had the privilege to offer my services as Vice President of Isra University Career Development Society; we were the pioneers of Job Fair which received tremendous response and accolades. Being a very social person, I have maintained a good rapport with my teachers, administrative staff and my class mates.

My stint with extracurricular activities was not limited to the campus only but continued outside the campus which has strengthened my negotiation and public dealing skills. Due to my expertise, I served as Vice President of Media and Distributions for HYDMUN '16 and as social media advisor for different Model United Nations societies in Hyderabad, Karachi and Islamabad.

My passion and desire to learn more about Nursing led me to graduate in this degree program. I am working as an intern in Isra and I have to come realize that the rigorous education during my studies is practically implementable in real world and has an impact on my day to day work of my professional career.

Isra has been an enriching experience especially because I got an opportunity to participate in different activities apart from those related to Nursing. I volunteered for Isra Social Welfare Society for a year, participated in sports events, International Nurses Conference, etc. I also presented my poster on the topic “Scope of Nursing in Pakistan” on eve of International Nurses Day and conducted research on “Image of Nursing among the perception of other departments at Isra University”.

I now plan to continue my education and earn a Master's degree in Nursing.

My four years at Isra University were the most rewarding years of my life. I chose Electrical Engineering because unlike others I am not intimidated by all the micro chips and cumbersome generators, in fact I am quite stimulated by them. My interest in this field motivated me to participate in all the seminars, workshops and study tours. In particular my participation in circuit designing competition in iCube 2014 was the best of all as I got an opportunity to experiment with the learned theories. With third highest CGPA in my class, I was also a meritorious scholarship holder throughout these four years. I have one month of training experience from SEPCO Sukkur during which I worked under the supervision of an Executive Engineer. My final year project on 'Free Electricity Generator Using Permanent Magnet' being an extract of my four grueling years was a golden learning opportunity.

After my college, as I assessed electrical engineering major, I was fascinated by its application. I think it is very interesting to work with technology on a micro scale and be involved in producing leading edge and innovative machines.

I have around one month of training experience as an internee at Central Power Generation Company Limited and I secured certificates for participating in numerous seminars and events. I have been a very punctual and honest student and I believe these virtues will reflect in my professional life too.

My time at Isra University has been very fulfilling. Even though I have come a long way, there is still a lot I would like to engage in because in the words of Henry Ford, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” And I don't want to grow old anytime soon!
