Introduction to Yealink VC Mobile

Yealink VC Mobile is a powerful, easy-to-use collaboration application, which represents a reliable one-stop solutionfor remote and mobile workers who want to join high-quality video conferences from their mobile phone or tabletwherever they go. Unlike other proprietary software, Yealink VC Mobile is based on standardized Android operatingsystem, it extends your organization’s video network and gives you an engaging experience from wherever 3G/4G orWi-Fi connectivity is available.

Intended AudienceThis guide is intended for Yealink VC Mobile users.

System Capabilities and ConstraintsThe following resolutions and algorithms are supported for Yealink VC Mobile.

• Resolution• Algorithm

Resolution

The following table lists the resolutions supported in this version of the Yealink VC Mobile.

Table 1:

Resolution and Frame rate Source

Up to 1080p,30fps Video sent from camera

Up to 1080p,30fps Video received from far site

Up to 1080p Content received from far site

Actual transmitted video resolution is determined by several factors, such as camera capability, device performance, network conditions, the far-site system’s capabilities, and whether content is being received, it can also be affected bythe presentation frame rate of far-site device.

Configuring Yealink VC Mobile for Firewall Traversal

A firewall protects the organization’s IP network by controlling data traffic from outside the network. If you play callsto other video conference parties, you must configure the firewall to allow incoming and outgoing traffic through thereserved ports, which may avoid one-way audio or video if the firewall is not properly configured.

• Call Setup and Media Ports• Restricting Reserved Ports

Call Setup and Media Ports

You must configure your firewall to allow incoming and outgoing traffic through the following ports:

Table 8:

Description Port Range Port Type

Gatekeeper 1719 UDP

H.323 signal port 1720 TCP

SIP (default transport protocol) 5060 UDP

(default range)

TCP/UDP

Page 17: Yealink VC Mobile for Android User Guide V1.26.0

| Network Settings | 17

Restricting Reserved PortsBy default, the Yealink VC Mobile communicates through TCP and UDP ports in the range of 50000 - 54999 forvideo, voice and presentations, and only a small number of these ports will be used during a call. The amount of usedports depends on how many people join the call, which protocols are used, what kind of call you are making (audio orvideo) and what kind of presentation you are making.

Procedure

1. In the top-left corner of the window, tap the avatar icon to enter the settings window.2. Tap Network.3. Configure the UDP port range and TCP range.

Table 9: Parameters

Parameter Description

UDP Port Configures the range of the UDP ports.

Valid values: 1-65535

Default range: 50000-50499

Note: SIP and H.323 calls share the configuredports. The gap between the maximum UDP portand the minimum UDP port should be not lessthan 200. For example, you set 50000 as theminimum UDP port, the maximum UDP portshould be not less than 50200.

TCP Port Configures the range of the TCP ports.

Valid values: 1-65535

Default range: 50000-50499

Note: SIP and H.323 calls share the configuredports. The gap between the maximum TCP portand the minimum TCP port should be not lessthan 200. For example, you set 50000 as theminimum TCP port, the maximum TCP portshould be not less than 50200.

4. Tap Save.

Network Address Translation

If you choose to place your Yealink VC Mobile in a private LAN, you must use NAT to communicate with outsidesystems. This may include enabling static NAT on your software.

Yealink VC Mobile supports static NAT, STUN, H.460, TURN and ICE.

Page 18: Yealink VC Mobile for Android User Guide V1.26.0

| Network Settings | 18

Note: TURN and ICE are enabled by default and not configurable.

• Static NAT• STUN• Enabling H.460 Support for H.323 Call

Static NATALG (application layer gateway) feature on the router/firewall can help translate address and port of application-layer protocols. If your router does not support ALG (Application Level Gateway) feature, you should configure portforwarding on your router first, and then enable static NAT on your Yealink VC Mobile to help H.323/SIP protocoltraverse the firewall.

Note: If H.460 firewall traversal is enabled on the Yealink VC Mobile , the Yealink VC Mobile willautomatically ignore the static NAT settings for H.323 calls. For more information, please refer to EnablingH.460 Support for H.323 Call.

Configuring Static NAT

Procedure

1. In the top-left corner of the window, tap the avatar icon to enter the settings window.2. Tap Network.3. Configure static NAT.

Table 10: Static NAT parameters

Parameter Description

Static NAT Specifies the static NAT type.

• Disabled—the Yealink VC Mobile does notuse the NAT feature.

• Manual Setting—the Yealink VC Mobile usesthe manually configured NAT public address.

• Auto—the Yealink VC Mobile obtains theNAT public address from the specified Yealinkserver.

Default: Disabled

STUNYou can use the Simple Traversal of UDP through NAT (STUN) function besides ALG or static NAT. If STUN isenabled, the Yealink VC Mobile can perform private-to-public network traversal using the STUN server.

The Yealink VC Mobile can be configured to work as a STUN client, to send exploratory STUN messages to theSTUN server. The STUN server uses those messages to determine the public IP address and port used, and theninforms the client. For more information, refer to RFC3489.

Capturing packets after you enable the STUN feature, you can find that the Yealink VC Mobile sends BindingRequest to the STUN server, and then mapped IP address and port is placed in the Binding Response: BindingSuccess Response MAPPED-ADDRESS: 59.61.92.59:19232.

The Yealink VC Mobile will send SIP message using the mapped IP address and port.

Note: STUN does not enable incoming TCP connections through NAT or incoming UDP packets throughsymmetric NATs.

Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol

During a confidential call, you can configure Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) to encrypt RTP streams toavoid interception and eavesdropping. Both RTP and RTCP signaling may be encrypted using an AES algorithm asdescribed in RFC3711. Encryption modifies the data in the RTP streams so that, if the data is captured or intercepted,it cannot be understood—it sounds like noise. Only the receiver knows the key to restore the data. To use SRTPencryption for SIP calls, the participants in the call must enable SRTP simultaneously. When this feature is enabled onboth devices, the encryption algorithm utilized for the session is negotiated between the Yealink VC Mobile and far-site device. This negotiation process is compliant with RFC 4568.

Page 25: Yealink VC Mobile for Android User Guide V1.26.0

| Configuring Security Features | 25

When a site places a call on the SRTP enabled, the Yealink VC Mobile sends an INVITE message with the RTPencryption algorithm to the destination device.

The callee receives the INVITE message with the RTP encryption algorithm, and then answers the call by respondingwith a 200 OK message which carries the negotiated RTP encryption algorithm.

Rules of SRTP for media encryption in SIP calls:

SRTP Local: Compulsory Local: Enabled Local: Disabled

Far: Compulsory SRTP Call SRTP Call Fail to establish call

Far: Enabled SRTP Call SRTP Call RTP Call

Far: Disabled Fail to establish call RTP Call RTP Call

When SRTP is enabled on both devices, calls will be encrypted, and the lock icon appears on the user interfaceof each site during a call.

Note: If SRTP is enabled for the SIP account, you should also configure the transport type to TLS. Thisensures the security of SRTP encryption. For more information on TLS, refer to Transport Layer Security.

CodecCODEC is an abbreviation of COmpress-DECompress, and is capable of coding or decoding a digital data stream orsignal by implementing an algorithm. The object of the algorithm is to represent the high-fidelity audio/video signalwith a minimum number of bits while retaining quality. It can effectively reduce the frame size and the bandwidthrequired for audio/video transmission.
