What does he do wrong? Think about the things Magoo is learning. Would an old dog do these things? How old do you think Magoo is? Give your reasons why. How do we know Magoo is happy, sad, or playful? Hint … look at his body. How do we know the family love Magoo? Optional activity: Paperfolding: Make a dog’s head using the following link: https://www.youtube.com/embed/OPFZ5CFU8OU Try to make your creation look just like Magoo! For an example, see Appendix 3.

Mathematics: Number of the Day Login to Seesaw and complete the activity called ‘Year 2 Number of the Day’. Today’s focus number is: 107. Note: A printable copy has been provided (Appendix 12) if you cannot access your Seesaw activities.

Mathematics: T.E.N Login to Seesaw and watch Mr Bailey’s TEN video of the game ‘Turn a Card’ for this week. Explanation for Elephants: Turn over 1 card and say the number. Look at the numeral and count the symbols. Explanation for Parrots: Turn over 2 cards and add the 2 numbers together. Explanation for Frogs, Cheetahs and Flamingos: You are trying to reach a target number. Start by turning 2 cards and adding them together. Next, turn another card and add it to your total. If you go over your target number, try to count back to it. Choose a different target number for each day. Frogs aim for numbers within 14-20, Cheetahs numbers within 24-30, Flamingos numbers 34 and above. Remember to pause the video at any point and rewatch it throughout the week.

Mathematics: Multiplication Use the worksheet (Appendix 4) or write out the questions in your workbook. You can google a virtual dice roller if you need a dice or you could get creative and use a tissue box for a dice. Complete as many questions as you can using multiplication strategies such as concrete materials to help to model equal groups or use repeated addition (2+2+2+2). Use patterns on the number line to assist with skip counting by twos, fives and tens starting from zero (Appendix 5). You could also draw arrays as a visual strategy. Extension: If you are feeling confident complete the multiplication as repeated addition (Appendix 6).

Your groups must have the same number of objects in them (sort them into groups with between 2 and 10 objects). You may have a few objects left over and you can leave these out. 4. Work out how many objects you have using repeated addition. You can write down your sum if you wish (eg: 4+4+4+4=16, or 8+8+8=24). Extension: Your groups must have between 6 and 15 objects in each group. If your groups are equal and you have more than 2 objects left over, see if you can re-sort them into groups that leave no remainders. You could also create an ‘Array City’ demonstrating different numbers in groups (Appendix 9).
