Tigers
Tigers belong to the cat family. They can be found in the cold, snowy environments of Siberia. Here they have long, thick fur to keep them warm.
They also live in warm places such as jungles in India. Tigers do not live in herds or packs like some animals but hunt on their own.
A male tiger is bigger than a female tiger but apart from this they look the same. They have orange fur and black stripes. The stripes help them
to hide in the grass and in trees. Some tigers have white fur but there are not many of these in the world.
Tigers rest in the day and hunt at night. They like to catch deer and wild pig but they will eat almost any animal. Tigers are not really fast runners so they have to creep very close to their prey and then pounce.

A female tiger gives birth to two or three cubs. The cubs stay with their mother for about eighteen months while they learn how to hunt.
Sadly their numbers are falling because their habitat is being destroyed and people are killing them for their fur and bones. There are only between 5000 and 7000 tigers left in the wild. In the wild, tigers can live for up to 15 years. In zoos, they will live much longer.

The book “Frog and Flea and the Flying Fox” starts with the chapter describing the sunny days the frog and the flea had during spring. On page 5, in the second chapter the author describes how the frog and the flea managed to climb a tree. Chapter 5 explains how Kite got lost but they find it soon afterwards. In fact “The Kite is Stuck” is the name of the chapter after it.
