Year 7 Catchup funding 2012-2013 Last year, our Year 7 catch-up funding was used to fund an exciting and innovative inclusion project alongside two of our local inclusion schools. As all of our year 7 pupils were boys, we wanted to focus on providing an exciting outdoor learning opportunity that would motivate and engage boys in their learning and capture their imagination. The project, aptly named ‘Survival’, saw the boys imagining that the world had ended and they were the only surviving group. They had to think about where they could live, what they could eat and how they could survive. This project had a positive impact on all of the boys involved and they were certainly more motivated to engage with literacy based learning within the classroom. Alongside raising engagement, the project certainly improved the pupils’ skills in team work, communication and has raised their self-esteem.
