What is an assessment schedule?

For each subject you will receive an assessment schedule. This outlines

the formal assessment tasks that you will complete and will be published

in your Semester Report. These are not the only tests that you will

complete throughout the year. Your teachers may test you with informal tests to check your

progress and make sure you are on track throughout the term.

Below is your 2020 Year 7 Mathematics Assessment Schedule:

Discussion Questions:

Episode 1: Stealing Grace

1- Have you ever downloaded anything from a website? Was it free? What do you think is

happening every time you download something online?

_______________________________________________________________________

2- An unflattering photograph of Bianca has been posted on Grace’s social network page. It

looks as if she is picking her nose. The photograph has been unkindly captioned ‘Beauty

Queen’ and ‘Lunch Break’. If you were Bianca, how would you have reacted?

_______________________________________________________________________

3- Dean and Joel attend different schools. They both play Star Warriors. They have never

met. Their friendship only exists online, is it risky to play online multiplayer games with

people that you have never met?

________________________________________________________________________

4- Joel’s mum: You finished your homework? Joel: Yep. Do you ever spend time playing

online and leave your homework until later on?

________________________________________________________________________

5- It is 2.58am and Dean and Joel are still playing Star Warriors. Why should Dean and Joel

be in bed? Does your use of digital technology ever interfere with your sleep?

Page 15: Year 7 Malek Fahd Islamic School Orientation Booklet

6- Harry: We never hang out any more. Dean: We’re hanging out now. If you were Harry,

would you be upset with Dean?

________________________________________________________________________

Episode 2: Ringing Ryan

1- Who knows your password(s)?

________________________________________________________________________

2- Why do they know your password? Do they really need to know it?

________________________________________________________________________

3- What are personal details?

________________________________________________________________________

4- Is it ok to share your personal details? Why/Why not?

________________________________________________________________________

Episode 3: Texting Ollie

1- What does Joel mean when he tells Ryan ‘you always have to pay somehow’?

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

2- There is nothing wrong with sharing your password with your friends’. Do you agree?

________________________________________________________________________

3- Has your online behaviour ever got in the way of an offline friendship?

________________________________________________________________________

Page 16: Year 7 Malek Fahd Islamic School Orientation Booklet

4- How does Sarah react when her friend is sent a photograph of Ollie? How would Sarah’s

friend receive a photograph of Ollie?

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

Episode 4: Telling Dean

1- Grace’s dad: Anyone who wants to and knows how can find out about everything you ever

do online. Easily. Can you think of a few risks involved with being online?

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

2- Sarah wants to tell their mum that Ollie’s photographs have gone viral. Ollie doesn’t.

Who’s right? Why? What would you do if you were Ollie? What would you do if you

were Sarah?

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

Episode 5: Asking Claudia

1- Dean: It sort of creeps up on you. Play an extra minute, play an extra ten minutes. One

more hour. Do you ever lose track of the time when you are playing online? Have you

ever felt like Dean, reluctant to give up until you have completed a level?

Page 17: Year 7 Malek Fahd Islamic School Orientation Booklet

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

2- Ryan: I didn’t read the terms—nobody reads the terms! What are terms? Do you ever

read the terms and conditions? Do you think Ryan will read the terms in the future?

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

3- Claudia: But it was only a joke! Why does Claudia finally admit that she posted the

photograph and the captions? How does she feel? How do her friends respond?

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

1- Which character can you relate to the most? Why?

_____________________________________________________________________

2- What is the worst experience you have had online?

_____________________________________________________________________

_____________________________________________________________________

3- List a few tips for your younger sibling on how to be safe online?

_____________________________________________________________________

_____________________________________________________________________

_____________________________________________________________________

Page 18: Year 7 Malek Fahd Islamic School Orientation Booklet

4- Is it ok to be mean online? Does the saying: “If you have nothing nice to say, say

nothing at all” still apply to online comments?

Praying at

School

Page 20: Year 7 Malek Fahd Islamic School Orientation Booklet

At Malek Fahd Islamic School we pride ourselves with our close connection to Allah s.w.t.

A big part of this connection is achieved through our daily prayers that are performed in the

Mosque. Here are a few things you need to remember in order to attain the maximum benefit

from prayer time.

1- Once you hear the first bell during lunch ( 1:15 Mon-Thu, 1:10 Frid), this is an indication

for you to pack up your lunch and head to the Wuduu area.

2- Perform your Wuduu as you have been

previously taught. Refer to the image on the

right for guidance if you have forgotten some

of these steps.

Don’t forget to start with Bismillah!

3- Make your way to the mosque, placing your shoes neatly in the shoe cabinets.

Might be a good idea to label your shoes!

4- Enter the Mosque with your right foot and say the duaa:

Page 21: Year 7 Malek Fahd Islamic School Orientation Booklet

5- Once you have entered the mosque, perform the 2 rak’ahs for greeting the mosque.

6- After you have finished prayer and are awaiting for the Duhur prayer to begin, make

silent tasabeeh.

Make sure you are facing the Qibla whilst seated. NO leaning on walls or talking!

7- Once prayer has finished listen for instructions to leave for class

Do not stand up without permission.

8- Exit the Mosque with you left foot and say the duaa:

9- Make your make your way straight to class, do not continue eating or playing.

**Teachers alongside welfare coordinators will be supervising outside and inside the mosque.

They will be taking down names of both latecomers and students who are being disruptive

during prayer. The SRC will also be in charge of reporting any misbehaving students inside

the mosque.
