YEAR 8 – HOMEWORK TIMETABLE The timetable below is intended as guidelines for the day on which homework is set for students and aims to ensure that homework tasks are set consistently and that students’ workload is spread evenly across the two week cycle. In Year 8, a single homework would be expected to take, on average, approximately 30 minutes to complete. Teachers may also offer guidance on how much is to be produced, for example ‘write one page’, or ‘complete exercise 3’. However, quality is equally as important as quantity. Student planners should be completed before the start of the week with the subjects below written on the appropriate day. When homework is set, it should be recorded; if no homework is set, students should record “none set” and an explanation where possible. Subject teachers may set homework tasks which will run over a series of lessons and cover more than one homework slot – where this is the case students should record this in their planners for all of the homework set dates affected. Teachers may also set small additional homework tasks on an occasional basis where this is needed to support the learning. 8A Week A Week B MONDAY Mandarin History English Drama TUESDAY Mathematics Geography Art Mandarin WEDNESDAY English Science Design Technology THURSDAY Science Mathematics Music FRIDAY Modern Languages ICT
