Unit 1: Life in balance Duration: 5 weeks Overview: Unit the end of unit 9.1 students will have learned how the human body maintain a steady state via the process of homeostasis. They will be able to read and interrupt feedback cycles to predict what change is to occur to bring about balance. Unit the end of unit 9.1 students will have learned how the human body maintains its steady state when objected to pathogens. They will be able to describe and researched the 6 different pathogens and the ways the immune systems response to these invaders. Students will be able to understand how immunity is gained via vaccinations. Unit 2: Ecology Duration: 5 weeks Overview: Unit the end of unit 9.2 students will be completing a field study of an ecosystem, which allows them to record data about the organisms and non‐living parts, and therefore draw conclusions about the ecosystem being studied. In an ever‐changing world, field studies of ecosystems enable scientists to predict the effect human impacts have on the changes to an ecosystem system.
