• You have already looked at narrative (story) structures in painting and started to look at the sequencingsequencing of images, through technology, by making magazine-style “photostoriesphotostories”
• Now you are going to look at the structure of the moving image and edit some video footage.

• Edit video clips
• Save as project
• Make a movie (rendering)

Task: using the “Jerry” storyboard, make a movie:
• Follow this tutorial• Edit clips together to make a narrative film. It
need not be the same as the original and need not use all the footage. Don’t make it too long.
• Print the screen of your finished Project window.• Extension: Add effects, not too many as it
becomes messy.

• You should get this window
Import Video
Year 9 Art - Narrative
• Click on IMPORT VIDEO from the left hand options
• Find the file named “Jerry the Troublesome Tyke”
• Double click it or select and IMPORT

• Click once on the ‘frame’ that you want to watch – it will appear in the monitor. Press PLAY arrow.
• You can stop, go back, forward (fast or each frame) using the monitor controls.
• You can use the razor/edit button to ‘cut’ the clip – the clip will appear as two separate clips in the storyboard.

• You can then go to your edited clip in the storyboard and drag it into the top line of the timeline
• Doing this repeatedly will create a movie.

• Under FINISH MOVIE, choose SAVE TO MY COMPUTER

quite a while to save
While you wait, write down your thoughts on using video editing software. Keep this and the print out to go in your sketchbook.
