Avilés is a newcomer to the international tourist industry and as such is less prepared for English speakers.

A walk through the old town of Avilés (declared historic artistic site) will give you a view of all the different architectural styles that populate this ancient city known as the medieval village of Asturias. Walking its streets is like walking through history from the S. XII to the present, between spaces and buildings representing the architectural styles of Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau.

If you are travelling with children, we recommend the Ferrera Park, where the young ones can feed the swan, geese and ducks that roam freely about.

If you are the seafaring type, take a walk down the estuary and enjoy a bottle of the local hard cider along with a plate of devil crabs.
