places for people
Construction without DistructionTangshan is a highly polluted city and willing to transform its image, therefore we try to keep existing woodland and orchard in the site as much as possible. We carefully record the topography, species, location and elevation of trees, which is more time-consuming than removing everything away. We also fit those factors into the design, to show our respect of the land: as a result, the soil can also be less compact and we can help these trees healthily grow.
A Place for PeopleInstead of only for exposition, we consider these gardens as places for ordinary people's ordinary life. Therefore after EXPO the gardens can also serve the public.
Cultural IdentityAccording to the client, the 7 international gardens include Japenese, Korean , Dutch, German, Swedish, French and British gardens. Stories, structures, installations and plants are related to each countries' culture, climate and lifestyle, however be re-presented by design.

[Master Thesis-Design] Watercity: an Ecological Transformation of Urbanism. Chongming Island, China/ 2011-2012/ PARTLY-Best Master Thesis Design Prize 2012/the only master thesis maked '10' in Landscape Department, Wageningen University-TOP3, National Best Master Thesis 2012 in the Netherlands, by IIAS ( International Institute of Asian Study, Netherlands)-Exhibited in European Biennial of Landscape Architecture, Venice, 2012-Publicated in ' Blauw Kamer' 2013, 7
Dongtan in Chongming island is the last paradise of Shanghai - it has the biggest conserved wetland for migrated birds in China. People there are mostly low educated farmer and lives in simple but poetic way with water. However, the latest urban development is changing it: most agricultural area, fishponds and villages are (planed to be) destroied for development, and locals lost theirland, works and familiar lifestyles . In my design, for fulfill the programs government has already setup for Dongtan urbanism development, ecological approach are applied while the social and cultur factors are also considered by not only literature and data study, but also a half-year fieldwork.
I propose: 1. a new image of Dongtan for long term development2.transformation: a win-win solution to social and eco issues3.strategic plan and open ended design4. urban development by recycling : regeneration of landscape, lifestyle and identity

SUNFLOWER CITY
Although it is not a conventional landscape project, it is an exhibition drived by various design fantasy with a landscape approach. Our concept is to reveal how flowers live and how a sustainable city works as flowers. Scientific informations are revealed and transoformed to design language. Instead of consuming the life and beauty of flowers, our intention is to design an exhibition representing the value of plants' life, which goes beyond the typical indoor flower show.

science+art=revealing the invisibility
People may think environmental art is not landscape architect's regular workscope. However, if you consider the people who knows well about design and nature, that's a landscape architect. It is also our responsbility to educate public and reveal the invisibilitiy of nature through design.
story- telling
This exhibition was hold in 5 different Chinese cities for welcoming the royal gift from the Netherlands to China, i.e.Cathay tulip, a rare species tulip.
We told a story of tulip's travelling from the east to the west. Science, history and art stories of tulips are integrated in this exhibition. Multiple ski l ls of design are applied to transform stories into design.
