5 Starting the Game

Your name can be up to eightcharacters long.

You can play aboy or a girlChoose whicheyou prefer

♦ Whichever one you choose, thebasic story is the same.

Select this option from the titlescreen to start a new game. Thenselect which diary slot you'd like tosave the story of your adventures in.

Select this option to choose a savedgame to keep playing.

By linking to a different version ofthe YO-KAI WATCH 2 game, you'llbe able to take on a specialdungeon.

To be able to link, you'll first haveto progress your story until you areable to travel to San Fantastico.

To play a linked version of YO-KAIWATCH 2, first launch the version ofthe game you wish to link, select"Link Alone", and save linking data.

Next launch the version of the gameyou wish to play, and then go speakto Mister E at the abandoned housein San Fantastico. You will begranted a key to the specialdungeon.♦ Make sure to obtain the key

within two hours of saving linkingdata, otherwise the above stepswill have to be repeated from thebeginning.

● InstructionsOpen the "Link with Someone"menu in each version of YO-KAIWATCH 2. To begin, one playerselects "Send PIN" and the otherplayer selects "Receive PIN".

A PIN will appear on the screenof the sender. When the recipiententers the PIN on their screen,linking is complete.

Each player can then talk toMister E at the abandoned housein San Fantastico to receive thekey to the special dungeon.

♦ Please note that if you turn offthe power or quit after l inking,you won't get the key. If thishappens, you will need to followthe linking procedure again fromthe beginning.

8 How to Play

♦ There are some Yo-kai youcannot befriend.

♦ You can also befriend Yo-kai viaevents, quests, the Crank-a-kai(p. 25), and the Oni Crank-a-kai(p. 12).

Explore Springdale and nearbyareas, and talk to the people youfind there. When you get in a battle,help your Yo-kai friends defeat theenemy.

Certain enemYo-kai you defein battle will wato become youfriends. When ybecome friends with Yo-kai, you cangive them a nickname.

Once you get a bike, you can press to get on it. (There are parts ofthe map where you cannot ride abike.)

Move whilholding to dor to pedastanding up oyour bike. You also dash bmaking a longslide on the Touch Screen, all theway to the edge.

Dashing or standing up to pedaldrains your stamina gauge. If itempties all the way, you will beunable to dash or pedal standing upuntil it refills, and your movementwill be slowed while you'rerecovering.

Slide in the direction you wouldlike to move your character. Move slightly to walk.

You can also touch the TouchScreen and slide the stylus in thedirection you want to move.

These mysteriodoors arconnected to special map in differendimension. As you progress throughthe story, you'll be able to find themusing the Yo-kai Lens. Once inside,you'll be given challenges tocomplete for special items calledGate Globes.

If you are defeated while inside aGate of Whimsy, you'll be returnedto your bedroom.

If the Yo-kai Rastarts reacting something, pre to use thYo-kai Lens antake a closer look. You may evenfind a Yo-kai!

If the radar turns purple and a ? isdisplayed, press to examine thearea. If the radar turns red andshows a letter like E or D, look for aspot where th icon appears andcheck it out by switching to WatchMode.

12 Terror Time

During Terror Tiyou can find OOrbs and variouother items thacan only be uswhile you're in Terror Time. Oni Orbsare kept until you escape, and theyare used on the Oni Crank-a-kai.

Items can be used at any time bypressing , but you can only holdone at a time. If you pick up anotheritem while already holding one, theold one will be thrown away.

♦ There are certain things you can'tdo while in Terror Time. Forexample, you can't use theYo-kai Pad or Yo-kai Lens.

When you're out and about,sometimes you'll see a countdownclock begin out of nowhere. Whenyou see that timer, get ready! Whenit reaches zero, you'll enter...TerrorTime!

Once Terror Tistarts, the actiyou're able to taon the field arrestricted and aOni and his underlings will appear. Ifone of the Oni's underlings spotsyou, they will call to him and he willstart chasing you. If the Oni catchesyou, you'll fail to escape. Try tocollect as many Oni Orbs as you canand escape within the time limit!

If you manage tescape, you'll a turn on the OCrank-a-kai. Thpower of the OOrbs you've collected will flow intoa coin that you can trade for acapsule. The more Oni Orbs youcollected, the better the chances ofgetting a good item or Yo-kai, somake sure to collect as many as youcan!

The exit froTerror Time is golden slidindoor, which wilappear sometimafter Terror Time has begun. You willescape if you manage to use thesliding door within the time limit. Ifyou are caught by the Oni or if timeruns out, you'll fail to escape.

18 Starting a Battle

The gauge below each Yo-kai'sname is their HP. HP goes downwhen a Yo-kai is attacked, andYo-kai will faint if their HP runs out.

Th icon is the Yo-kai's SoulMeter, which fil ls over time orthrough focused attacks on aspecific enemy. Once it's full, you'llbe able to use a Soultimate Move!

19 Progressing through a Battle

If you use the item Getaway Plush,you can escape from a battle.(There are some battles you can'tescape.)

Yo-kai will attack and use theirTechniques automatically. Theactions they choose to take willdiffer depending on theirpersonalities.

Yo-kai will level up after gaining acertain number of experience points.Stats like Strength and Spirit willincrease as a Yo-kai levels up.

to open thpause menu anselect "Give up". Tbattle will be treated as a defeat.

The Yo-kai set to your Yo-kai Wheelwill participate in battle, with thethree at the front actively fightingenemies. Use commands to giveorders to your Yo-kai, and rotateout different Yo-kai as the needarises (p. 20).

20 Giving Orders to Yo-kai Friends

While you're in battle, you can giveyour Yo-kai friends commands usingthe Touch Screen. Once you haveprogressed past a certain point inthe game, Model Zero commandswill also become available.

This allows you tuse a Yo-kai'Soultimate MoveSelect a Yo-kai witfull Soul Meter, anfollow the instructions on the TouchScreen. Once the gauge is full, yourYo-kai will unleash a SoultimateMove.

Yo-kai Inspirited benemies will suffersorts of bad effectTo restore themmove the InspiriteYo-kai to the back and use Purify.Follow the instructions on the TouchScreen to successfully remove thebad effects from the Yo-kai.

When the Yo-kai Watch is in ModelZero mode, the Soultimatecommand changes to the M Skillcommand (M for Moximous).M Skills are stronger than normalSoultimate Moves, but theyconsume three Soul Meters! TheSoul Meters of the Yo-kai using themove and both the Yo-kai on eitherside of it will all be used up, so useM Skills wisely.

Select "Remove Pin" to remove apin, or move the lens to a placewithout an enemy Yo-kai and tap theTouch Screen.

This allows youput a pin on thenemy you wantfocus attacks oMove the Yo-kaLens and line it up with an enemyYo-kai, and then press or tap theTouch Screen to put a pin on theenemy. Bosses may have differentparts of their body that you cantarget with a pin, so be on thelookout!

When the Yo-kai Watch is in ModelZero mode, the Target commandchanges to the Poke command.Select an enemy as you would withthe Target option, and repeatedlypoke the enemy. When the exit appears, escapewithin the time limit to win. Whenplayers successfully escape, theirOni Orbs are pooled together toinfuse a coin that lets you turn theOni Crank-a-kai.

1. To host the adventure, oneplayer selects "Create a Party".The host then chooses theadventure type and a Yo-kai toplay as and waits for any otherplayers to join.

2. Any joining player selects "Join aParty", the name of the host, andthen "Yes". Then each joiningplayer selects a Yo-kai to play as.

3. All players' names will bedisplayed on-screen, and thegame will start when the hostselects "Start with This Party".

　♦ Depending on which adventureyou choose, the correspondingtag will be consumed (e.g., aBronze Tag will be consumed ifyou select Bronze Adventure).You can get tags by taking partin Oni Misfortunes.

Go to the secowindow insidLambert PosOffice, selec"InterneDownload", and then select "Yes".After you connect to the Internet,you'll receive a special item if one isavailable!

32 Receiving Notifications

To receive notifications, go to thethird window inside Lambert PostOffice, select "Notifications", andthen select "Receive Notifications".A message will display. Please readit thoroughly and select "Yes" tocreate extra data on the SD Cardand complete your setup forreceiving notifications!

♦ Please refer to the OperationsManual for information on theNintendo 3DS Service UserAgreement and setting up anInternet connection.

In order to use SpotPass, you musthave agreed to the Nintendo 3DSService User Agreement and yoursystem must be set up to connect tothe Internet.

♦ Data received via SpotPass issaved to the SD card, so makesure you always have an SD cardinserted into your system.

While the system is in Sleep Mode,and even while the software is notrunning, the SpotPass feature willperiodically connect to the internet(if available). You might find variousnotifications waiting for you whenyou next launch the software!

You can deactivate SpotPassnotifications for this game at anytime. Go to the third window insideLambert Post Office, select "CancelNotifications", and then select"Yes".

You can also deactivate notificationsby opting out from the HOME Menu.

33 Using the Yo-kai Cam

♦ When you take a photo, you'llhear a shutter noise even if theNintendo 3DS system's volume isset to minimum or you haveheadphones in.

♦ Yo-kai that you photograph forthe first time will be recorded inthe Yo-kai Medallium.

You can take a picture by pressing// (or by touching "Shoot" onthe Touch Screen). The picture willbe saved to the SD Card.

Select Yo-kai Cam from the Yo-kaiPad to use the Nintendo 3DScamera to snap pictures of Yo-kaiwho are Inspiriting people!

Once the camera starts up, line upthe face of the person you want tophotograph with the guide on thetop screen. Press (or touch"Inner Cam" or "Outer Cam") toswitch between the inner and outercameras.

When you're done takingphotographs, don't forget to saveby using the Diary app. If you shutdown the game without saving, anynew Yo-kai information you'vereceived will be lost from theMedallium and you won't be able toclaim any prizes.
