Design Project: INHABIT - Residential Design

DES2012/2999 Design Application & Communication Inhabiting SpacePAGE 1

BRIEF:

A famous couture fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, has left money

in his will to sponsor (pay for)the design and construction of accommodation for 4 fashion students within an existing Nido student block

The rooms are to act as batteries which charge up the creative imaginations of the students, making them better fashion designers.

CONCEPT:

The main idea for my project gets the inspiration from the Alexander

McQueen Hero Suitcase. Hero piece takes on the imprint of a human form with the rib cage and sternum outlined at the front of the case and the backbone on the back.

“The human rib cage protects our vital organs as we move about in the world. Luggage takes on the same role as we travel and pack our worldly possessions inside for safe transport” Says McQueen.

Inside the rib cage the soul rest, the heart is protected, the emotions contained, and once is open, all these emotions develop into something creative, out of this world.

PROPOUSAL:

My proposal for the Students Bed/Study (smart flat ) aims

to recreate a performance open plan space with the catwalk and the backstage,

The rooms of the students are the backstage, small Hero suitcases, where they rest and prepare their minds for action, and the catwalk is the place where everything takes place, where they act, work, cook, chat, share ideas and share lifes.

BRIEF CONTEXT

Gordon Matta Clarck...“CREATING..by DESTROYING”...

BRIEF:

Throughout the rioting, many of the rioters failed to cover their faces. Some posed for pictures with stolen goods, posting them on social-networking sites.

My first inspiration was Gordon Matta Clack because of his cuts building and artistic inter-ventions and penetrate spaces in unexpect-ing ways.

Design Project:RECONCILIATION / RETRIBUTIONA built response to a social unrestt

My aim is to create a non profit membership organization `Society for Photographic Education´

Medium: IMAGESSources: Camara, web images, screen capture.

This space will be the place where provides and fosters an understanding of photog-raphy as a means of diverse creative expression, cultural insight, and experimental practice.

Through its interdisciplinary programs, services, and publications, the society seeks to promote a broader understanding of the medium in all its forms through teaching and learning, scholarship, and criticism.

PROPOSAL:

My idea will be to make a wood frame covered by plaster panels that soporting the building resoporting the groundfloor, using the vertical cir-culation staircases. With this intervention’ building I would like to create a dramatic experience within.

The cube installation represent the standard dimensions of the pictures frame. The diagonal possition of the object through the building will be as an observatory view frame of the sky.

Be a member and participate, get involved in the worshops, confer-ences or informal chats and one a month will create a publication for the Inslington community area. But also online publications.

Design Project:RECONCILIATION / RETRIBUTIONA built response to a social unrest

Throughout the rioting, many of the rioters failed to cover their faces. Some posed for pictures with stolen goods, posting them on social-networking sites.

The effects of riots in terms of economic and political consequences are as complex as the socioeconomic origins of such events.

The riots have generated significant ongoing debate among political, social and academic figures about the causes and context in which they happened.

My first inspiration was Gordon Matta Clack because of his cuts building and artistic interventions and penetrate spaces in unexpecting ways.

BRIEF CONTEXT PROPOSALDesign Project: MICRO BUDGET: RefurbismentA real project with a long wish list and a small budget The Dulwich sports ground is run by volunteers for the interest of the community. Their purpose is to pro-vide sporting facilities for a widerange of community groups and sports clubs and associations for both children and adults. DulwichSportsGround

Our main aim was to thedifferent range of communitygroups together with aspace thats warm , welcomingand inviting. To indulgewith others within the space, with the clubs being able toshow their acheivements off.

We have connected the sports by the projectile motion of the ball which is similar in both sports. With this we have made an acoustic installation which links one side to the other. Links one of the entrances to the acheivement display..

We have a connection with nature which shows through the materials that have been chosen to be used. Natural reclaimed woods and recy-cled cardboard

tubes for the installation.
