Welcome to First Grade!

This school year promises to be a great one full of wonderful experiences for your child. Noted below is a list of the items your child will need to help him/her be prepared for all learning activities.

Please make sure your child has these supplies in school as soon as possible. I also ask that you write your child’s name on all supplies and articles of clothing so that they can be returned if lost. You will have to restock some of these supplies over the year like pencils, crayons and glue sticks.

First Grade Supply ListKristen Green Class 1-2

Welcome to First Grade! In our class, we use tables, not individual desks. Therefore, all students must have a plastic crayon box for their supplies (approximately 8x5x2 in.).

In the crayon box, please have: 3 sharpened Ticonderoga pencils 1 box of 24 Crayola crayons 1 large eraser 1 large glue stick 1 highlighter 1 scissor: Friskar’s work best

In a labeled Ziploc, place the remaining supplies that I will store for your child’s future use:

All students will need 3 black & white composition notebooks. Label them with your child’s name.

All students need a 1-inch binder with a plastic view finder on the front. This is where you can store a paper on the front of the binder. This will be their Poetry Binder.

In a separate labeled Ziploc bag, each child will need their own pair of headphones to use with our computers. Do not send ear buds.

In labeled envelope, $7.00 for subscription to Scholastic News for the year and a Primary notebook (which I have already purchased).

Items to share with the class: 1 box of tissues 1 roll of paper towels 1 box of baby wipes 1 box of markers 1 box of colored pencils 4 pack Expo Markers (dry erase)

It is worth the time to write your child’s name on everything, including individual crayons and pencils. This will allow your child to hold onto their items as long as possible. We cut and glue every day, large glue sticks are a must. Ticonderoga pencils sharpen the best, therefore they last longer.

I will also supply a plastic folder that your child will use daily.

Please be sure you have supplies at home to do homework too!

exciting activity revolving around a book that they read for the Yonkers Public Schools summer reading activity. The students will need prior knowledge of the book in order to complete this activity.

The fifth grade will be required to read at least four (4) books prior to coming to school in September. They will also need to complete the summer reading log that will be enclosed in their report card envelope or can be found on the district website. Also, each fifth grader is expected to come to school in

September knowing all multiplication facts (0-12). Any student who has mastered this will receive an award!
