NIHIL OBSTAT:IMPRIMATUR:
Rev. Stephen G. Gideon, Censor LibrorumMost Rev. David R. Choby, Bishop of Nashville
In every time, in every season, in every moment, we are called to renewal and we are invited to experience an ever-deepening bond with the God to Whom we belong.
In the last fifty years, the Church has commonly articulated its sung prayer in a horizontal expression, often focusing on us rather than God. However, the fullness of our faith requires us to direct our prayer to a God both transcendent and imminent, lifting our hearts, spirits and minds to the un-nameable, uncon-tainable, unchanging yet ever-with-us Goodness.
This songbook is intended to redirect us away from ourselves and toward God. YOU ARE HOLY represents the breadth, depth and rich musical deposit of the contemporary Christian experience. It is a compilation of sacred texts set to song from the heart of mystagogia. More importantly, YOU ARE HOLY is designed to worthily serve the God Whom we praise, leading each of us into a deeper journey of renewal, uniting us with His will as we embark into the next fifty years.
Although no compendium of music is ever complete, and al-though we can never give sufficient praise to the God Who has given us everything, YOU ARE HOLY strives to provide each believer with a comprehensive collection of songs, hymns and psalms that will lead each of us to a more profound encounter with our God.
May God be ever praised in our singing, may these musical works ever refresh our hearts, and may they engender within us the fire of His love. May these words live where these melo-dies resound: deeply within our souls, in every age and in every generation, for the work of renewal is never done.
May YOU ARE HOLY glorify God and resonate powerfully and clearly through our lives!
