This year, the Desjardins Group celebrates its 110 th anniversary. The first caisse Desjardins was created in Lévis in 1900, when Alphonse Desjardins convinced his fellow citizens to band together to meet their financial needs. Congratulations to Alexandre Zappa andAlexandre Léger for having each won a$1,250 scholarship towards their universityeducation.

The two young adults were among the 1,347 to submitan application to Fondation Desjardins’s selectionpanel.

This is yet another example of the Caisse’s involvementin the community, this time on the educational front.The Fondation Desjardins, with the financial support ofthe caisses, awarded close to 200 scholarships worth atotal of $500,000 this year for various programs toencourage our youth to go to university and obtaintheir degree.

Two scholarshipwinners atthe Caisse Mont-Rose–Saint-Michel

Last year’s on track for your future contest,designed to encourage our youth to pursue their studies,was a great success! Just over 65 young members and/orresidents of the Rosemont or St Michel neighbourhoodsparticipated. For that reason and because support for the education of our youth is oneof Desjardins’s priorities, management has decided to hold the contest again this year.

Eligibility criteria:• Be between 18 and 30 years of age;

• Be a resident of the St-Michel or Rosemontneighbourhoods (proof of residence required)and/or be a member of the Caisse Mont-Rose–Saint-Michel;

• Be registered for Cegep or university in 2011(proof of registration required);

• Be present for the draw that will take place at our General Assembly(Le Baron reception hall, 6020 Jean-Talon East in St Léonard), starting at 6 p.m.;

• Fill out and return the entry form, available at the Caisse or on our website atwww.desjardins.com/caissemontrosesaintmichel, to Roxanne Prince [email protected] by 3 p.m. on April 1, 2011.
