Clean water is nearly impossible to get

Water is given out into 5 gallon bucketsweighing 45 lbs when full

Many walk many blocks to bring water totheir homes, waiting in the hot sun to getthe water from the water truck

The 5 gallons of water may be all theyhave for their household use

Can you imagine a day without water?

Since 2005, Reiser Relief has been bringingwater to Cite Soliel, the poorest slum in thewestern hemisphere

Water trucks operates 6 days a weekproviding 84,000 gallons of drinkable freshwater each week

Each truck load brings 3500 gallons ofwater enough for 700 families

Washing Clothes

The poor in Haiti have no running water or washing

machines, kids help out with washing the clothes in

buckets.

Typically they wash clothes in the river, sewer run off areas

or next to the street gutter in Cite Soleil.

Did you know??

A child dies of hunger every hour, inHaiti, and in the northern regions, wherethere is little or no farming, the figurerises to 29 deaths a day.

In some regions of Haiti, almost 50% ofchildren lack proper nutrition, and manysuffer physical and mental problems as a

consequence.

Most times the only meal kids eat is atschool from a food program.

Most Haitians buy their food on thestreet from vendors on market days not from a store.

Haitians cook in a pot on a charcoal fireoutside since most do not haveelectricity and cant afford propane.

Most Haitians do not have a refrigerator

and buy pieces of ice and create acooler when they need it.
