Many of us I’m sure would be thrilled at receiving an expen-sive gift, thinking, ‘how lucky am I!’ It would make our day and contribute to our feeling happy. But what if that gift was a substitute for time, love, attention and was being given in a placatory, keep-em-quiet way. Would we still be feeling happy, cared for, special?

Happiness often comes from being grateful for what we have, appreciating the value of what comes our way - good or bad, the simple things in life.

Being given a free leaflet about a show or talk that we’re interested in demon-strates that someone was thinking of us when they picked it up.

The champagne cork from a special meal together, a pressed flower or lovely shell from a walk we en-

joyed, a compilation of ‘our’ special songs; these are things that can make us happy, rather than an expen-sive gift quickly pur-chased on the way home. What are some things that make you hap-py?

- Thoughtful gestures

are important. When someone smiles and lets us out in traf-fic, holds the door open, gets us a cof-fee as they make one for themselves or an unexpected kind-ness, any of these are things that can really brighten our day.

- Unconditional

praise and compli-ments can make us happy. When some-one rewards us with a, ‘good job’, or ‘you look nice’, it brings a glow of positiv-ity to the day. But if they add a comment like ‘why don’t you do that more often!’ it becomes much less pleasant.

- External things can make us happy. Chil-dren’s laughter, the smell of coffee or freshly baked bread, a cheesy song, a beautiful garden can make us pause for a moment and smile.

Many of us will feel excited at hearing the chimes of an ice

cream van. We don’t want an ice cream, but the music triggers childhood memories.

Article continued from the front page...

- What about finding an unexpected fiver in your pocket? How rich do you feel, how fortunate! Or an old lottery ticket and you fantasise momentar-ily about it being the lucky million pound ticket!

- Your pet’s welcome as you walk through the door can make all the day’s stresses evaporate. Any con-cerns are forgotten as you’re smothered un-der lots of love and affection.

- Unexpectedly find-ing a laundered shirt when you’re late can make you hap-py. You’ve gained 10 minutes before you’ve even started the day! Or catching a bus you thought you’d missed, buy-ing the last of your favourite bread or not putting on weight over the holidays.

Some tips to enhance your happiness lev-els;- Clean sheets are number one on many people’s list. Why not

add a few drops of lavender to the final rinse cycle?

Ensure your bed-room is your retreat, where you relax, destress and perhaps enjoy some intimate time with your part-ner. Alternatively, have an early night with a good book and dedicate time to yourself.

- Close the curtains, turn off the lights and relax in the dark revisiting your fa-vourite music. Get out your photograph al-bums and reminisce over the stories they tell, the memories they evoke, or spend an afternoon catch-ing up on those films you’ve been wanting to watch.

- Indulge in a bub-ble bath. Light your scented candles, warm the towels and allow yourself half an hour ‘me’ time.

Buy a bunch of flow-ers and put them somewhere unexpect-ed like the hallway or bathroom, then smile as you take your morning shower.

- Plan some fam-ily time over a lovely meal and catch-up on everyone’s news. Ar-range something fun with your partner or friends; a walk, some sports, an evening out, or allow time to dress up and enjoy a special event.

- Enjoy some quiet time by sitting and eating lunch. Eating on the run can be-

come a habit, but give yourself a break and destress. Buy a bar of quality choco-late and savour every mouthful.

- Settle down with a drink and phone a friend for a leisurely chat. Invite people round for coffee. It doesn’t take much; a jar of coffee, a few bis-cuits and you have a pleasant get-together with friends.

- Do good works. Give to your favourite charity and feel hap-py that you’re able to help others less fortunate. Volunteer and dedicate time to a local charity or ama-teur group. They often rely on volunteers to survive.

- Rise early and take

a walk while the air is still fresh and it’s quiet. Or enjoy an af-ternoon in the park watching the deer, swans and ducks.

Maybe borrow a friend’s dog and have a good walk. Marvel at the power of na-ture as you watch the sunset, sunrise or a thunderstorm from the comfort of your home.

- The beach is often a happy place. Walk barefoot on the sand, collect a few shells and practice skim-ming pebbles on the sea.

- Smiles are conta-gious. Brighten some-one’s day by giving a compliment, a smile, saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. Yours

might be the only kindness they receive that day.

So many of the things I’ve included are free or cost very little, once again re-inforcing how money doesn’t buy you hap-piness. It might help, but it’s not the only factor!

learn to Play Banjo the easy way! By Geoffrey white

Learn the NEW STYLE of easy-to-learn banjo...”Pick-Hammer”. Pick-Hammer was developed many years ago out of the frustration in learn-ing other banjo styles.

Banjo is NOT an easy instrument to learn, especially picking styles. It takes hours of con-centrated practice and only the ones who REALLY want to learn and play make it to proficien-cy.

But imagine a two-finger style that is easy to learn and gets you playing right away? Geof-frey developed this style and has taught students for close to

a decade and has the results to prove it.

success stories

Micky says: “What took me 4 years with another teacher I learned in 4 weeks with Geoffrey! Highly recommend-ed.”

Karen says” “As a woman of plus 50 years with no musi-cal ability other than a long held passion to play banjo, it was extremely difficult for me to find a teacher.

My guardian angel was guiding me the day I stumbled on Geoffrey White on the internet. Geof-frey is an amazingly patient and support-ive teacher.

His method is ideal for beginners be-cause, while learn-ing all the necessary basic skills, you are actually learning to play a tune and pro-duce the wonderful banjo sounds which originally sparked our passion for this beautiful instru-ment...

Geoffrey is helping me to realise my dream and I highly recommend him as a teacher to ban-jo lovers wanting to learn or improve their skills”.

Pete writes: “I start-ed my lessons with Geoffrey not know-ing very much about the banjo I received as a gift for Christ-mas.

Through Geoffrey’s patience and exper-tise, I learned roll patterns, finger tech-nique and by the end of our block of les-sons, a whole tune! Couldn’t have done it without his patience and ban-jo wisdom. Thank you!”

Part 3: Now There Is A Very Important Part Of Being Interesting To Others That You Must Become Aware Of.

Whilst in the beginning people do like the fun and excitement of all the acting, the dramatising, the loud voices, being witty, charming, funny, wild body movements, fa-cial expressions and hand gestures etc. As you copy or imitate someone or dramatise or act out a situation to either amuse, enter-tain or engage them to make them want to listen to you, follow you or be influenced by you, however, if that is all they ever hear and see from you, it could or very likely will end up eventually having the same mind numb-ing effect as the bor-ing monotone voice, where every word sounds the same as all the other words and the words are no longer interesting to the person or audi-ence.

When this starts hap-pening your people or audience will start dropping off to sleep or start disengaging with you.

SO HOW DO YOU REMEDY THIS?Well it is relatively simple but again like

anything, you have to practice it correctly to perfect it.

here’s what yoU do.

Just as you have emotions so does the person or audience that you are commu-nicating with.

... So what you have to do is use these very same real life emotions in the struc-ture and content of what you are doing or saying.

For Example: Just in one sentence or the part that you are act-ing out, to get their attention you can use interesting, amus-ing, witty, wild, loud, engaging words and gestures then start swapping out the wild, loud words for very quietly spoken words,

boring but interesting and funny words,

sad words, happy words, meaningful words and questions and a thousand and one other combina-tions of words and facial expressions, and all depending on what message you are wanting to get across to your person or audience.

By doing all this you will find as long as

your material is of decent or good qual-ity that your au-dience is far more comfortable with lis-tening to you, engag-ing with you, reading your materials and following you.

So please remem-ber that by doing all this if your peo-ple or your audience are dropping off and are starting to disen-gage from what you are saying or doing, that people can and will start getting re-invested, re-interested and re-engaged in your words and ma-terials by using all of these different meth-ods as appropriate to re-engaging your au-dience and you will start finding that peo-ple will start being much more attracted

to you and engaged more with you.

So if the goal of what you are doing is to get paid for do-ing your work...

( and again as long as your material is of de-cent and good quality )

... it is far more likely that you will get paid a lot more for your efforts,

...than by just repeat-ing everything you say over and over and over again in the same boring, uninter-esting or monotone fashion.

Now, just as I sug-gested in the first part of this article in the previous news-paper, the next thing for you to learn is to

start practicing all of these suggestions.

3. In the next edi-tion I will bring you the powerful and fi-nal Part 4 of this life changing method of interesting and en-gaging your audi-ence.

Kind regards Derek White Editor TGNNP.

Pomegranate Juice Found to clean your arteries and lower your risk of a heart attack

Source: https://www.naturalnews.com/2019-03-24-pomegranate-juice-clean-your-arteries-lower-your-heart-attack-risk.html

Pomegranates are nutri-tious fruits, and the juice from the fruit offers many health benefits. Ac-cording to a study, drink-ing pomegranate can even significantly im-prove heart health.

Pomegranates have a re-markable nutrient pro-file. A cup of pomegran-ate seeds or arils (174 grams) has fiber, protein, vitamins C and K, folate, and potassium.

The intima-media, the middle portion of the arteries, can become in-flamed and filled up with plaque made up of oxi-dized fats, immune cells, and their debris. This condition is colloquially referred to as “blocked arteries.”

When the intima-media grows thicker, there is less space for the blood contents to move through the opening (lumen) of the arteries. Once the arteries even-tually close or become blocked, you may suffer from severe conditions or even death.

According to a study in the journal Atheroscle-rosis: “Pomegranate juice consumption resulted in a significant IMT [intima-media thickness] reduc-tion, by up to 30%, after 1 year.”

those who drink tea regularly have healthier Brains, research shows

Source: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/09/tea-protection-against-brain-decline

Regular tea drinkers have better organised brain regions—some-thing associated with healthy cognitive function—compared to non-tea drinkers, according to new re-search.

“Our results offer the first evidence of posi-tive contribution of tea drinking to brain structure, and sug-gest that drinking tea regularly has a pro-tective effect against age-related decline in brain organization,” explains Feng Lei, an assistant professor in the psychological medicine department at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National Univer-sity of Singapore.

Past studies have dem-onstrated that tea in-take is beneficial to human health, and the positive effects include mood improvement and cardiovascular disease prevention.

In fact, results of a 2017 longitudinal study that Feng led showed that daily consumption of tea can reduce the risk of cognitive decline in older persons by 50%.

Following this dis-covery, Feng and his team further explored the direct effect of tea on brain networks.Upon analyzing the participants’ cogni-tive performance and imaging results, the research team found that individuals who consumed either

green tea, oolong tea, or black tea at least four times a week for about 25 years had brain regions that were interconnected in a more efficient way.

“Take the analogy of road traffic as an example—consider brain regions as desti-nations, while the con-nections between brain regions are roads.

When a road system is better organized, the movement of vehicles and passengers is more efficient and uses less resources. Similarly, when the connections between brain regions are more structured, information process-ing can be performed more efficiently,” ex-plains Feng.

“We have shown in our previous studies that tea drinkers had better cognitive func-tion as compared to non-tea drinkers. Our current results relat-ing to brain network indirectly support our previous findings by showing that the posi-tive effects of regular tea drinking are the result of improved brain organization brought about by pre-venting disruption to interregional connec-tions,” he says.

Life is full of mys-teries which include happiness and unfor-tunately hardships.

Solving all the tur-moil’s that is associ-ated with daily living is challenging yet can be rewarding as well.

Attempting to keep pace with rigorous daily schedules in a world that continues to evolve with the introduction of new technology and the ever present danger of outside influences from other countries only increases the burden which dwells on the negatives in-stead of the positives which are ever pre-sent, however never recognized.

Life is more than fi-nancial freedom, al-though this appears to be the goal of the majority of individu-als who seek such freedom.

The steps to financial freedom are steep and narrow requiring dedication and sacri-fices that are at times insurmountable and cumbersome.

Focusing on obtain-ing what is often out of reach to many, de-tracts from the true rewards of life, sim-ple yet inspiring dai-ly surroundings that are taken for grant-ed however remain clearly visible, ever

present at the end of your nose.

In today’s economy living life to the fullest is often associated with working 12-16 hours a day in order to pay for executive homes and expensive automobiles that are nothing more than a mere image of what truly lies beneath the surface.

Climbing the corpo-rate ladder often has rungs or steps miss-ing which lead to ad-ditional downfalls which are rarely rec-tified.

Seeking approval of others with promo-tions and corporate exposure from col-leagues, co-workers and friends is un-doubtedly the even-tual beginning of a life filled with disap-pointments and many additional hurdles to jump over.

Surprisingly enough there are those indi-viduals with firm be-liefs that deem suc-cess is not measured by the size of bank accounts but by per-sonal well-being and the inner spirit that takes the time to pay attention, to unplug from society for only a few parting mo-ments.

Success is becoming a whole person, a person that is aware

of his or her sur-roundings, a person that is appreciative of sunsets, moonlit walks on the beach and a warm embrace from someone near and dear.

Success is a sim-ple wink, admiring landscapes of distant shores seen for the first time or merely taking the time to greet strangers with a friendly and warm smile.

It is a simple fact. There will always be someone that has more or less than you have, someone who is better than you in many different ways.

Comparison is one of the biggest distrac-tions throughout life, one that depletes the soul of feelings and emotions replaced by hatred and ambiguity towards others and oneself.

Comparing yourself to another is an ir-reversible form of self-destruction that only breeds contempt fueled by misunder-standings and rumors which spread like wild fires through a dry and depleted for-est, forever burning.

Be happy who you are, what you have not what you want.

Experience life to the fullest by reflecting on

the present, your sur-roundings and every-day occurrences that may appear ordinary or commonplace but are in fact miracles brought forth for all to share.

This article is penned by Lora Davis. If you are someone who wishes to live an ex-traordinary life, one that gives you fulfill-ment and financial

freedom then the onus is on you to start living on your own terms.

Everyone is feeling much better when happy, but the mis-take that too many people are making is to think that hap-piness is a finishing line in a race.

After crossing this border, will they hap-pily live forever in Happy-land?

Happiness is a matter of a bright and open mindset! You can choose to make your life happy. So here are some ways you can try.

1. leave the memo-ries of the past.

Everyone has aw-ful and blissful mo-ments. So forget your painful memories.

What has happened in the past is not im-portant anymore; it

has no relation to the future. Instead, focus on the good memo-ries, set your eyes on the future and move on.2. Be optimistic.

Try to look at things on the sunny side. Look for the sun-shine above every dark cloud.

For example, if you had an unfortunate traffic accident where your vehicle got damaged, the bright side is that nobody is injured and the car can be repaired. There is always a glossy page to look to be op-timistic!

3. Be close to your family.

Try and maintain close contact with your fam-ily and friends. Our relationship with them

has a more significant impact on our happi-ness than anything else.

Humans are social beings. Therefore, it is worth evaluating your existing relationships. Make closer contact with people who lift you, and close the door on people who pull you down.

4. Try to find a job that will help you find or make happi-ness.

If you feel that you are over-stressed in your current job, and you do not get the well-deserved reward you want for it, then may-be it’s time to make shifts in your career.

Job satisfaction plays an integral part in your happiness.

Firstly give your job a second chance. Try a positive attitude in your work. If this does not work out in a short period, it is time to change careers.

5. Make friends.

You have to be friends with people who have a common interest.

Find something that you can be genuine-ly passionate about, but be careful that it won’t grow over you.

Avoid addictive things like gambling. Your new interest might be a hobby or an organi-zation that you can be a volunteer. You can meet people here with the same enthusiasm and passion as you are.

6. Exercise.

Practicing sports re-lease endorphin, the happiness hormone. So you will not only care for your body but automatically wake yourself up.

7. Change your thinking.

You have to start a fulfilled life. Do not delay finding new life experiences for a second. Try something new every day, or add a new skill.

8. do not let small things put you down.Do you remember the little things that bothered you? Forget everything that you can’t control and fo-cus on the bigger pic-ture. Life is too short to worry about trivial things.9. live your life for yourself.

Do not try to live your life by other people’s expectations. So start to live for yourself!

10. Lastly, remember to give love without any expectations. Self-less love is something that makes you feel happy!

There’s no doubt that helping people has been my life for many years.

Right from the time when I was a pro-grammer at British Aerospace and used to help my friends debug their programs to my business work-ing with Chet Holmes and Tony Robbins as their business coach across the world.

The Huffington Post even reports on re-search that shows you’re happier when you’re helping peo-ple at work! More research also shows you live longer by contributing to oth-ers.

Of course, when I set out on my career I didn’t know this re-search! I just loved to help people, which unfortunately when I started my own busi-ness meant I did a lot of work for nothing.

I learned my lesson - no food on the ta-ble - pretty quickly. However, that’s nev-er stopped me from helping people any-way.

The most exciting thing I found when I’m in the middle of something with other

people is when they realize they can do more than they thought. A re-ally lovely factor in coaching.

However, ultimately I realized I was only helping a small frac-tion of the number of people who could benefit from the knowledge and tools I had.

So I wrote a short book (called Leap Ahead of Your Com-petitors) that was in-tended to help all the smaller companies with marketing and running a business.

Because I wanted the maximum number

of people to benefit I used to hand it out for free to those who

couldn’t afford my coaching but I knew would benefit from its contents.

Then I thought, part of the journey for any entrepreneur or business person is personal growth. A topic that is unseen but makes a huge difference to people, their families and

people they know.

So I decided to create a Facebook group called Personal Growth Tips to help people with their personal growth. If you’d like to take a

peek it’s at:

https://www.face-book.com/groups/personalgrowthtips-group/

Again, I didn’t want to charge because my intention is to help as many people as pos-sible to improve their current situations, but more than that I wanted their kids to benefit too.

At the same time I know I’m not the fount (defined: source of a desirable commodity)

of all personal growth knowledge! So I wanted to cre-ate a community that would help each

other and grow to-gether.

So, like I say the group is free to join and I’m looking at everyone who knows me to see who wants to grow and help others do the same.
