Volunteers and partners matter! You make a difference! You have a profound and lasting impact on the lives of the children in our community. Your willingness to share both your time and your talent by volunteering says so much about each of you.

You give selflessly to help our children and this action speaks to the strength and the quality of your character. When you volunteer, you are making a commitment to share one of your most precious resources, your time! And we thank you!

From the moment children enter school in the morning to the wonderful smells of breakfast; the special one-on-one time with a Big Brothers Big Sisters In-School Mentor, a reading buddy or Grade 2 Elf literacy tutor; enjoying a nutritious lunch being provided by volunteers; the experience of a work placement; the opportunity to play a sport, or engage in an after-school club; the school day is enriched because you care. With your support working as a team with the schools to enhance student learning: • Children meet new role models and mentors • Schools and children are offered many new

opportunities • Students are further empowered to feel good, take

risks, and develop positive values • Families benefit as the children share their

experiences • Children are motivated to succeed. They love to

share their successes with each of you. Your smiles and encouragement mean the world to them, the staff and their parents.

Whether . . . • working directly with the children and the schools in

the areas of literacy, numeracy, etc. • helping behind the scenes • fundraising to support our children • providing new opportunities for children and their

parents before they reach school age • supporting the high school level with career

guidance and more • assisting with tutoring at all levels

• supporting families throughout the year, and in September with school supplies

• or providing enrichment for the children inside and outside of the school environment
