The core principles of attraction + relationships #1 Chemistry and relationships are a bettermarketing strategy for businesses like ours thanmarketing. Chemistry is relationships. It’s a more human andnatural way to attract the people we want to workwith. Marketing and sales approaches are often drilledinto us from the big business world. But we have an advantage if we get real and focuson building our first few great relationships withclients, with collaborators, with potential stockistsetc.

#5 What makes someone magnetic? I'd love to invite you to think about what attracts you tosomeone? Chances are it's because they're curious, (asking lots ofquestions), passionate (you see them light up), theirself-confidence (they ooze this because they'reconnected to their purpose) and empathetic (they meetyou at the place you're at right now). When you’re talking online, in real life, through yourcontent, you’ve got to show empathy, curiosity, passionand self-confidence, even if you don't yet feel them yet. Working towards each of these qualities is the goal andthere's nothing wrong with a bit of faking it until youmake it here. The more you can act with these qualitiesin mind, the close you'll get.

CLARITY As soulful business owners we need clarity in threeareas:

Clarity about who you are, what you stand for,what brings you joy and all the other insidework. Alignment is the essential first step weneed to work on.

Clarity about your dream client - who they areand what they stand for. How much money arethey prepared to spend? What keeps them upat night? What problem can you solve? Thedeeper you go, the more empathy you'll be ableto demonstrate.

Finally, clarity about the numbers. Financialplanning sounds boring but having goals eachmonth and every year is a non negotiable. It'scool to know where you are and where you wantto be,

This clarity is the single biggest thing thatmakes you attractive to people because theenergy is going to light you up when you talk.

2. AWARENESS Reaching out and helping people get to know youis everything. Connecting with dream futureclients, with collaborators and journalists, PRs andpotential stockists or supporters.

Where are the people you want to work withhanging out? What social media platforms, arethere any Facebook Groups (a great place tohang out for service based businesses).

To raise awareness you need a combination oftraffic driving activities such as email, WOM,collaborate, social.

This is where great, stand-out storytelling comesinto it's own because the more powerful you cancaptivate people through your content, themore they'll want to get to know you more.

The more niche your business, the easier it is tostand out!

3. RELATIONSHIPS

The work to do here is both on your relationshipwith yourself and the relationship with yourdream client.

It’s the mindset work both internally, in yourown mind, and also in the mind of your dreamclient.

This is where the empathy I know you havecomes in. Most people want to feel heard andunderstood and aren’t getting enough of that intheir life, which is where you come in. 

You’re the trusted advisor, you’re their friend,you’re the one that can take them out of theirordinary world into a new world and lead theminto a place of epic discovery andtransformation.In an online business this is howwe use stories and chemistry content as well asreaching out to people who are on your vibe inan open and meaningful way.

4. POTENTIAL I LOVE to start thinking about my dream clientsfrom a perspective of - what's completely amazingabout this person? It's a question I ask over everychemistry call, every time I wrote a list of people I'dlove to work with. People genuinely love to feel acknowledged andit's a good measure of who's a good fit because ifyou struggle to answer that question then you'reprobably not going to be a great fit for each other. And to be able to say "I see your potential" or "I cansee your future clearly, even though you can't" is apowerful way to help people see you're a great fitfor them.

5. IRRESISTABLE OFFER Once you've made the connection it's time tounveil your signature offer. Your offer needs to solve a problem in some way,that's the start point when you're developing it. For product based brands, this is where thestorytelling and messaging again comes into play.How are you different, what does your brand standfor? How does it make people's lives better? Forexample, I love Scamp + Dude for their messaging(making kids feel more secure) and story. From a service point of view, this is where yourpackage needs to sell the value you add to yourclient. What three things are they going to walkaway with and what added perceived value arethey going to get? For coaches and practitionersthis could be a programme or 121 name. The betteryou can get around the impact and result, the lessprice matters and the more you can charge.

6. THE NEXT STEP Whatever it is you're selling, you have to invitepeople to take the next step. The next step could be a call to action. It could be"click here to read more" it could be "sign up to myemail here." or it could be "how does this sound?Would you like to work together?" Every single piece of content should have a logicalnext step or a call to action. People want to be toldhow they can work with you. And people LOVE a choice. "would you like x or y,what feels good?" Does this sound like a good fit for you? The next step really is the conversion. The pitch.And for service-based businesses that's oftenspeaking to someone on the phone to see if you'rea good fit to work together. If you have a product maybe this is about gettingjournalists and stockists on the phone to see ifthey'd like to work with you.

7. YOUR OWN ATTRACTIONBLUEPRINT Every business owner needs a blueprint. A system,a process that works for them to attract newclients and build relationships with them. And the chances are that your own blueprint willevolve over time. The classic "funnel" is: ATTRACT (organic or paid)CONTENT (free content to captivate)OFFERLEAD or SALE (depending on your business) Even if you do paid FB ads, you'll still need anurturing period to help people get to know - andfall in love with you! So the goal here is to think about the tools youwant to use most and in what place of therelationship do you want to use them. My singlepiece of advice here, whatever your business, is togrow your email list from the beginning. You own this, you don't own Facebook or Insta.Email is a great relationship building tool!
