The Hong Kong-America Center (HKAC) invites applications for this unique program, designed to empower
young leaders working for women’s education and equality. Ten promising young leaders from Hong Kong
and the Pearl River Delta will undergo a four month leadership development program from May to
September 2013 which will include training workshops, exposure to business and civic leaders, and financial
support and guidance for projects to enhance women’s education and equality. The program also seeks to
strengthen the network of young leaders who are championing gender equality in the Pearl River Delta region
and Hong Kong. Trainings and support provided are designed to increase leadership skills and assist in the
development and implementation of the participants’ projects. Applicants will be selected on the merits of
their project proposal by a selection committee comprising HKAC representatives and other subject matter
experts.

The program offers:
Leadership skills building and networking
opportunities
Continuous guidance for the participants’
projects in between the two workshops
Access to online communities of young leaders
promoting women’s advancement in the Asia
Pacific region
A mini-grant for project implementation
(each around HK$10,000, based on proposals)
Housing and meals during two workshops will
be covered
Two-way transportation for participants from
Guangdong to Hong Kong
Note: Participants from Guangdong are
required to responsible for the visa to HK
(including visa fee and application)
Eligibility:
Participants are likely to be in an early/
mid-career position with an NGO or have
some work/volunteer experience relating to
women’s causes
They should be 20-35 years old
They can be male OR female
They should speak Cantonese or Mandarin
They should demonstrate a commitment to
staying and working in the Pearl Delta
Region/ Hong Kong
They should be interested in cross-cultural
exchange and strengthening HK-
Guangdong ties
Intake target:
5 participants from Hong Kong &
5 participants from the Guangdong area
Project criteria:
The project should be designed for
implementation largely during the period
between the two workshops
The project should focus on educating
and/or empowering women
A final report and budget will be due by
early October, 2013
