NEED

REACHING A WORLD OF KIDSYoung Life is following a movement of the Holy Spirit to make an impact on a world of kids. By the end of 2016, Young Life will have doubled its reach, equipping 80,000 leaders in 8,000 ministry areas to meet two million kids every year — all for the purpose of introducing them to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. Young Life was made for them.

CONTACT WORK Because kids don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care, Young Life leaders show they care by going where kids are, meeting them as they are, and believing in who they can be. Within Young Life we call the persistent going out into the world of kids “contact work.” But kids just call it friendship.

CLUB We like to think of club as a “party with a purpose.” It’s controlled chaos that’s almost impossible to describe, but kids know it when they see it. And before the party ends, we share a simple message about God’s love for them. After all, that’s what the celebration is all about.

CAMP Kids consistently tell us that Young Life camp is the best week of their lives. How else would you describe a week where deep relationships are forged in the midst of mind-boggling fun and you hear the greatest love story ever told?

CAMPAIGNERS Campaigners is a weekly gathering for kids who wish to learn more or grow in their faith through study, service and leadership. We’re with kids for the long haul to help them take the first steps of faith with unconditional love. Along the way, we encourage kids to celebrate their faith through participation in a local church congregation.

WHAT IS YOUNG LIFE?

Arvada used to be a part of a bigger area called North Jefferson County. In 2005 North JeffCo was split into three areas, with Arvada being one of them. Arvada has five public high schools, eight public middle schools, one private high school, three public charter schools and one college nearby. We have around 35 volunteer leaders with eight team leaders that reach out to four high schools, three middle schools and one college. Arvada, being a suburb of Denver and not a typical college town, is very dependent on indigenous leaders in order to function.

I grew up in a home where I had heard about Jesus, but did not actually know Him. After my dad committed suicide when I was 9, I questioned how a God who was good would take by daddy away. The summer after my sixth-grade year I was invited to go to WyldLife camp at Lost Canyon in Arizona. At that camp I learned about an eternal Father who would never leave me, and I made the decision to follow Him. Right before my high school years I was introduced to an almost 60-year old woman named Evette. She was a Young Life leader who met faithfully with me every week for four years. During that time she modeled what a genuine relationship with Jesus looks like. I began leading WyldLife my junior and senior year of high school because I wanted to share with middle school kids about a Father who loves His children. I wanted them to know that they were not alone.During my college years I stepped away from involvement in Young Life for two years. Instead, I took three trips to Uganda, learning what it means to walk with people in their circumstances. On one of my trips there I felt the call to return to chasing after kids through WyldLife. I began leading in Arvada at Oberon Middle School and shortly after became the team leader. In 2015, I went on part-time staff and at the end of the year was invited to apply to be full time. I chase after the hearts of kids because I know that Jesus changes everything. He changed the entire trajectory of my life, and for that I am grateful. I pursue kids relationally because the Lord has pressed upon my heart a desire to love His people well as a mere representation of His love for them.

TAYLOR’S STORY

“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove

from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to

keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.”

— Ezekiel 11:19-20
